The medical billing system training

You can be trained to do medical billing and coding in a number of ways. Some people start the job by being medical records technicians, which implies that they already have a degree (usually an Associate's degree) and coding and billing are sometimes taught as part of such a degree.

There are also online, community college and vocational school programs and some hospitals have their own schools that you can get your training in.

Medical billing as a career

You can advance in a career in medical billing by continuing your training and becoming more specialized in a certain medical area: oncology for example. No one really ever knows all of the different medical billing systems so people do tend to concentrate on one or another of them.

Perhaps the best part about medical billing is that it is just about the only career in medicine that doesn't involve the patients!
