Property Description
The George Hotel is an elegant Grade II listed hotel. Situated in the main square of Huddersfield, the building compliments its neighbour, the Huddersfield Railway Station with its fine Italian façade designed by William Walker. The George was built in the Victorian period around 1851, the hotel is famous as the birthplace of Rugby League Football, the meeting that founded the organisation was held here in 1895 and the memorabilia recalling this can be found throughout the hotel. There are 60 en-suite bedrooms which are well equipped and offer facilities to make you feel at home. The public areas include a traditional lounge and bar and an elegant restaurant which has recently undergone refurbishment.
