The 2004 Radio Music Awards, held Monday Oct. 25 at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas, was filled with music and an extra dose of anticipation with a performance by Ashlee Simpson, Jessica Simpson's sister.

The recent lip-sync flub by Simpson on a Saturday Night Live the previous weekend overshadowed the event.

Her appearance on SNL was disrupted during her second performance when someone cued a recording of her first song instead of the second.

The recording had Simpson's voice singing. As the vocals started up, her microphone was actually at her waist. Flustered and obviously embarrassed, she did a dance jig and made a quick exit off stage.

She later blamed her band for playing the wrong song, but updated that with an excuse about her acid reflux activing up a few hours before the SNL performance. Simpson appeared, live, at the Music Awards.

"You move on," Simpson said, "Things happen."
