Dean Evenson/Scott Huckabay "Healing Dreams"

Heal through music

www.soundings.com

Whenever Dean Evenson and Scott Huckabay produce music, there is always a high expectation for them to deliver even more than before. This new release is no exception to that expectation.

"Healing Dreams" takes the listener to the deep into their soul where healing can occur. Since dreams are the doorway to our soul, they show us our emotional and physical health. If we pay attention to those messages of our dreams, they can help us to better understand ourselves and help create a more healthy life.

This CD is part of the Sound Healing Series that boasts of two COVR award-winning titles, "Healing Waters" and "Tao of Healing." This is the sixth in the series.

Earth Resonance Frequency, a sub-audio frequency shown to promote alpha state in the brain can trigger what researcher Dr. Herbert Benson called "the relaxation response." It also contains the Theta frequency for a deeper state of relaxation and a heightened state of peacefulness. The music is a blend of Everson's shimmering flute and Huckabay's hypnotic guitar, with the dreamy vocalizations of Gina Sala adding a rich dimension. Harp, cello, viola and 'singing bowl' tones (by singing bowl master Walter Makichen) enhance the musical dreamscape.

Listen to this CD as you drift off to sleep. It can help you awake more refreshed and energetic in the morning.

Blues Foundation Presents The W.C. Handy Nominees (Vol. 1)

Keeping the tradition alive

www.bluesblitz.com

This CD is the first of its kind since the organization of the Memphis-based Blues Foundation in 1980. The Handy Nominees album showcases music in such categories as "Blues Album of the Year," "Blues Song of the Year," "Blues Entertainer of the Year," "Blues Band of the Year," and "Best New Artist Debut." The Handy Awards were presented on May 24 in Memphis.

Some of the artists featured include Shemekia Copeland, Corey Harris & Henry Butler, Big Jack Johnson, Eddy Clearwater, Willie King and Anson Funderburgh & the Rockets among others. Blues entertainer of the Year nominee Taj Mahal is also on the CD. A portion of the proceeds from the Musicblitz title is earmarked for the Blues Foundation and its programs.

MUSICBLITZ GM and blues fan Bryan Glover conceptualized the CD collection as a continuation of the company's ongoing efforts to support the Blues Foundation.

Those efforts began in 1999, when MUSICBLITZ created the genre-specific online community www.bluesblitz.com, which offers exclusive music downloads by such artists as Taj Mahal, Koko Taylor and Sugar Blue, among others. A contribution for each download was dnated to the Blues Foundation's Kids 'N Blues program. The site is a tremendous contribution to the blues scene.

The Blues foundation was organized in 1980 to prmote and preserve blues music around the globe. The annua W.C. Handy Blues Awards, Keeping the Blues AliveAwards, Blues Hall of Fame induction ceremony, the International Blues Challenge and the Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as the weekly blues radio program "Beale Street Caravan (r)," the Blues Foundation continuously encourages and recognizes the highest achievement of artists, writers, promoters and other supporters of the blues. The CD is just a sampling of the great talent among blues musicians.

Making strides with Cubic Feet

The songwriting duo of Mark Davison and Wood Lissauer have already put together three CD's with critical acclaim and have just released their fourh entitled "Superconnector." This musical partnership has written and recorded more than 100 songs together.

"Hats off to Fowl Records for getting our whole Cubic Feet catalog out for our family and friends. It's a new beginning for us," stated Woody Lissauer.

Davison adds, "This is the first album that we've done where all songs relate to each other with a common theme. They connect. All the Superconnector songs involve looking for some sort of connection."

"Superconnector" speaks of reconnection, disassociation, Minnesota, force of spirit, Vancouver, and the enchanting Elizabeth Rosellini. Each song has its distinct message and story. "Isabella Rossellini" is a song about someone who is obsessed with a film image and lacks connection in 'real life.'

Davison and Lissauer present an array of melodic themes that drawn the listener into a flow of emotionally riveted songwriting. These two seem to have that subtle touch that makes a duo seem like a tight fit unit.

Ray "Ethereal Journey"

Ray projects etherical rays

"With my music, I don't care if someone puts on headphones, closes their eyes and imagines outer space, or they the album on low volume in the background at a dinner party so they can talk over it," remarks Ray Leonard, or simply known as RAY.

"Ethereal Journey" is Ray's first release, although he is a top engineer in both the music business and television industry, as well as a contemporary instrumental recording artist. The listener is taken on a musical trip through the universe using gently melodic space music.

"There are many ways to utilize music," he says, "The sound can gently wash over you creating a sense of peace and relaxation, or you can listen closely and hear many of the little nuances that I added into the mix."

In 1983, Ray began exploring space music. "Synthesizers can do many amazing things. Not only can they emulate nature sounds or acoustic musical instruments, but they can create brand new sounds, even notes beyond human hearing. There's nothing more exciting than creating a new sound which no one in the world has ever heard before. By blending all the possibilities in an orchestral manner, it become a very powerful medium. The music has a freshness because there are those new elements blended with traditional sounds. As the composer, arranger and performr, I try to make each new piece into previously unexplored territory. I believe listeners feel like they too are discovering something new."

"Ethereal Journey" has a truely spellbinding delivery. The sounds that Ray has been able to produce seem to drawn out new musical emotions.
