Arizona Theatre Company 46th Season

Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) heads into its 49th season with a bold new look. ATC has launched a redesigned website highlighted by a striking new logo that underscores the company’s energy, strength and rich history. The effort was funded by a grant from Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust. Productions and dates for the Arizona Theatre Company 2015-16 season are:

Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin (Tucson: Sept. 16-Oct. 4; Phoenix: Oct. 8-25);

Disgraced (Tucson: Oct. 17-Nov. 7; Phoenix: Nov. 12-29);

Temple Emanu-El partners with Tucson Hebrew Academy to offer the Taste of Judaism Family Class for great Jewish learning for the whole family. Taste of Judaism, now in its 16th year in Tucson, is a free interactive exploration of Jewish Spirituality, Values, and Community, presented in a way that is relevant and engaging.

Arizona Musicfest 2016

Arizona Musicfest announces the lineup for its 25th Anniversary year, with superstar violinist Joshua Bell to headline the 6 week-long music event.

The Festival opens January 29th and runs through March 11, 2016 with concerts held in North Scottsdale and Phoenix venues. For the 2016 Festival, Arizona Musicfest has added performances at La Casa de Cristo Church, due to its excellent acoustics and larger capacity to accommodate public demand.

Magdelena Bash Harvest Festival

The sixth annual Magdelena Bash Harvest Festival will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015 11am-5pm at Kief-Joshua Vineyards, 370 Elgin Road, Elgin, AZ 85611, in Sonoita/Elgin Arizona. Several new Arizona wine releases, including 2013 Magdelena, a blend of Cabernet Franc and Barbera, as well as many new white wines for summer, and a 100% Estate Mourvèdre will be released at the festival. One of Kief-Joshua Vineyards most popular wines, Magdelena, is named in honor of Kief’s grandmother, who turns 95 years old this month.

Arizona Opera Opens with Premiere of "Arizona Lady"

Arizona Opera opens its 2015/16 Season as the first U.S. opera company to present the comic operetta Arizona Lady. The story revolves around leading lady Lona Farrell, whose hopes and dreams ride on the back of one horse, "Arizona Lady", winning the Kentucky Derby. Set on a historic ranch in Tucson and reminiscent of the greatest Golden-age Hollywood musical comedies, Arizona Lady is full of lively, upbeat music, cheerful, soaring arias and a wacky libretto, sure to make you smile as bright as the Arizona sun.

Tucson Bird & Wildlife Festival

The Tucson Bird & Wildlife celebrates birding and bird diversity across Southern Arizona. The Festival begins with the Sky Island Birding Cup on Wednesday, August 12. This 24 hour birding bonanza challenges participants to identify as many Southern Arizona bird species within the time frame. Thursday hosts 2 workshops and the nightlight social, where a preview of the Nature Expo will be given. Friday, August 14 is the first day of the Nature Expo at the Arizona Riverpark Inn. There will be a variety of activities, talks, and workshops friendly to people of all ages.

Iron Chef Perez Celebrates National Farmers Market Week With Heirlooom

National Farmers Market Week is August 2-9, 2015. To celebrate, Heirloom Farmers Markets is hosting a Chef at the Market demo with Executive Chef Danny Perez from JW Marriott Starr Pass. The cooking demonstration will be on Sunday, August 9 at the Rillito Park Farmers Market Pavilion starting at 9am. This will be the first public appearance by Executive Chef Perez since winning the annual Iron Chef Tucson 2015 competition this past June! He will be featuring seasonal market ingredients from the local farmers on hand that day.

Tucson Botanical Gardens presents DESIGNING WITH GRAY WATER on Friday, Aug. 28 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The cost is $18, $15 Members. Incorporation of gray water can significantly increase form and function of your garden, leading to a beautiful and plentiful natural space while also minimizing reliance on municipal water sources, reducing water bills and returning water to the environment. This course introduces participants to holistic application of gray water, with emphasis on design strategies concerning appropriate plantings and layout of spaces.
