The Phoenix Symphony will perform arguably the most important Symphony ever written, Beethoven’s “Eroica” at The Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts on November 3. As part of the Symphony’s 2011/12 Scottsdale Series, the concert will feature guest conductor Sean Newhouse and gifted pianist, Charlie Albright. Mr. Albright will be performing Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat.
Originally regarded as complex and bizarre, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 “Eroica” became a landmark musical work eventually opening the floodgates for the symphonic outpouring of the nineteenth century. “Eroica” marked the full arrival of Beethoven’s "middle-period,” and was followed by a series of unprecedented large scale works of emotional depth and structural rigor.
