Last Thirsty Thursday game July 21st
The Tucson Toros announced on Monday that the team will cease operation at Hi Corbett Field following a North American League authorized game of the Tucson Toros for a final Thirsty Thursday at Hi Corbett Field July 21, 2011.
The North American League Scorpions will play as the Toucson Toros under Toros Skipper Tim Johnson as Manager. Co-Managing will be Major League Baseball's icon and TV celebrity Jose Conseco, along with (his brother) Ozzie Conseco as Coach.
The Tucson Toros will play a double header against Kevin Cosner's minor league team the Lake County Fielders. This is an official North American League game for the final Thirsty Thursday at Hi Corbett Field.
The final Thirsty Thursday at Hi Corbett Field gates open at 4:30 pm.
At 5:00 will be the "Happy Hour Game,” and at 7:00 the Toros will host a "Farewell Celebration" followed by the final game at 7:30. Between games Toros owner Jay Zucker will share with fans the future of the Toros Organization.
All team apparel, hats, shirts, jerseys and more will be sold at blow out discounted prices.
The Tucson Toros elected to go on hiatus during the 2011 season due to the temporary stay of the Triple A Padres at Kino Sports Complex. However, the Organization has continued to operate baseball and community events at Hi Corbett Field in order to continue business, employ staff and maintain license requirements.
Recently, the Toros have been asked to vacate Hi Corbett Field by its landlord City of Tucson. Toros Owner Jay Zucker contends, however, that their Organization is in compliance with the terms of the License.
"Come say goodbye to your Tucson Toros in a Toast for the final Thirsty Thursday." Invites Sean Smock, General Manager. "All team appeal, hats, shirts, jerseies and more will be blown out at half price."
