Tucson Toros 2010 season announced

The 2010 schedule of the defending South Division Champion Tucson Toros has been finalized for the team’s second season of play in the Golden Baseball League (GBL), beginning with Opening Night at Hi Corbett Field on May 19th against the Edmonton Capitals.

The 2010 GBL season will feature 10 teams playing 90 games each, expanded from last year’s 9 team 84 game schedule, comprising the largest slate of competition since the league's inception.
 
The GBL will play a split-season with 45 home and away games for each team, which is the longest season in league history, will all Toros home games taking place at 7:00 p.m.  The regular season will open on May 19th and conclude on September 6th, followed by a five-game Division playoff pitting the first and second half champs of each Division with the winners advancing to a five-game GBL Championship Series. The game will be streaming live on the internet, broadcasted live on Toros Flagship radio station and most stations throughout the states and Canada that host teams represented in this event.

Tucson hosts 2010 All-Star Game!

The Tucson Toros have been selected to the host the 2010 All-Star Game between the Golden Baseball League and the Northern League of Professional Baseball at Hi-Corbett Field on Wednesday, July 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.  The announcement was made today at the Baseball Winter Meetings in Indianapolis, IN, beginning an All-Star rivalry featuring the most talented players from two of the premiere leagues in independent baseball. New Toros Clubhouse Fitness Open to the Public

Tucson Toros Professional Baseball Organization has expanded their fitness facilities and invites all of Tucson to workout with the Toros. History of the Tucson Toros and Baseball in Tucson, AZ

The Tucson Toros and Hi Corbett field holds much history and memories among Tucsonans. The Tucson Toros 2009 will take the field late May as an Independent Professional Baseball League team playing 40 games at Hi Corbett and 40 games on the road. Over the past three seasons, the GBL has featured such baseball greats as Rickey Henderson and José Canseco, along with 40 other former Major League players and top Minor League prospects. The new Tucson Toros baseball team took to Hi Corbett Field on May 21, 2009. The Toros returned to the local baseball scene as an Independent Professional Baseball League team playing 40 games at Hi Corbett Field (named for Hiram Corbett) in Tucson and 40 games on the road.

Tucson Toros owner Jay Zucker brought an expansion team of the Golden Baseball League to Tucson. The new team name would be the the same team that played in Tucson at Hi Corbett Field from 1969 through 1997. Zucker sold the Tucson Sidewinders baseball team which moved to Reno, Nevada.

Tucson, Arizona baseball actually began in 1915. Before the Tucson Toros, there were about a half dozen different teams playing in Tucson.
