MGM and the Farrelly brothers are closing in on their cast for "The Three Stooges."

The studio has set Sean Penn to play Larry, and negotiations are underway with Jim Carrey to play Curly, with the actor already making plans to gain 40 pounds to approximate the physical dimensions of Jerome "Curly" Howard.

"Hobbit." Academy Award (R)-Winner Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema Join With MGM to Produce 'The Hobbit,' Eagerly-Anticipated Fantasy Adventure Epic. The two "Hobbit" films -- "The Hobbit" and its sequel -- are scheduled to be shot simultaneously, with pre-production beginning as soon as possible. Principal photography is tentatively set for a 2009 start, with the intention of "The Hobbit" release slated for 2010 and its sequel the following year, in 2011. More about the "Hobbit."

Warner Bros. Plans Two-Part Film Adaptation of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" to be Directed by David Yates.

Clash of the Titans coming sometime in 2010

In "Clash of the Titans," the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world.

Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny. Warner Bros. Feb 26: The Crazies. A small town's water supply is contaminated by a man-made virus that turns people into lunatics. Overture Pictures.

May 2010

May 7: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Stars Ben Barnes and Georgie Henley. This film may be delayed because of the Walt Disney Co. withdrawl from the film project at the end of 2008. Disney cancelled its involvement because of "budgetary considerations and other logistics." The price tag is estimated at $200 million to produce, not including marketing costs. The previous "Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" brought in just $419 million world0wide. The first film, "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" grossed $745 million worldwide in 2005.

September 2010

'Red Dawn' remake. Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki have been cast in MGM/UA's remake of "Red Dawn," set to begin filming in September. They join the already cast Chris Hemsworth in the story of a group of teenagers who form an impromptu insurgency when their town is invaded by Chinese and Russian soldiers.

New Films Released Sometime in 2010

Only Human is the first feature from Dark Hound Productions. The film is about a troubled college student, Alex, who is a gifted pianist, with tragedy in his past. With help from his high school girlfriend, Grace, and the boy he mentors through Big Brothers Big Sisters, Joshua, he finally finds his way.
