Jay joins prime time TV in fall 2009
On Monday, September 14, 2009, Jay Leno returned to the airwaves with a new show. This time, he is on prime time TV at 10:00 pm (9:00 p.m. PT). Thursday, May 29, 2009 Jay Leno hands over the reigns of "The Tonight Show" to talk-show host Conan O'Brien.
Jay Leno has hosted The Tonight Show since May 1992 when he stepped in for Johnny Carson. Beginning in the Fall 2009, Leno will host his own primetime talk show, tentatively titled The Jay Leno Show. It will air weeknights at 10:00 PM ET (9:00 PM CT) on NBC-TV. Before Leno started as a stand-up comedian in the 1970's, he had always dreamed of taking over Johnny Carson's role, which he did. Each weeknight, Leno starts off with his traditional monologue after his shaking-of-the-fans-hands ritual. Without his traditional talkshow desk, Leno interviews one to two celebrity guests on stuffed chairs and closes the hour long show with either Headlines, Jaywalking or another comedy segment. Traditional, but funny, Leno.
