Scottsdale, Arizona- An Introduction

Of all cities in the Phoenix area, Scottsdale is most famous for its upscale nature. While driving through Phoenix and approach Scottsdale, you notice a considerable difference - shopping plazas have architectural and color schemes not seen other places and more attention is placed on landscaping.

Overall, Scottsdale is the most aesthetically-pleasing of the Phoenix cities.

Scottsdale, Arizona is located east of Phoenix and just north of Tempe. As with most of Phoenix, Scottsdale boasts golf courses galore. Virtually all major resorts have golf courses along with city and county courses.

A focal point of Scottsdale is the Scottsdale Fashion Square which features an array of designer stores. Just outside the Square is a restaurant/bar called Hops!, (7000 E. Camelback Rd.) a microbrewery with nice atmosphere and good food. (Hops! also has two other locations, 2584 E. Camelback Rd - Phoenix, 8668 E. Shea Blvd.).

More rustic than the Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa areas, Scottsdale is a blend of true Old West and contemporary architecture.

Scottsdale was once called the West's most Western town for a reason. There is a great deal of history surrounding this town to be looked into. It has evolved into a great center of art and culture in more recent years.

The winter months have evening art walks that show case the many galleries and eateries along Main Street. Scottsdale of course has lots of great shopping and dining for the tourist to enjoy. Some parts of town are rustic looking, including Rawhide, and others very modern.
