Far away in a hidden field of flowers there lived the glitter gem fairies. One day, as a family of fairies were flying around, exploring a new area where they never had been before, a mean sorceress had come across their path and heard them. The sorceress, named Aplaysha, looked very mean all the time, had been looking for the fairy gems for a long time.
She had decided to sneak up and capture the fairies. The family was all there except for one little fairy named Topaz. He wasn't able to go with his big brother and sister, along with their mother and father, because he did not do his share of picking berries when he was told. So he had to stay with his uncle Ruby. Topaz didn't really mind staying with his uncle because they always had fun together. His uncle would teach Topaz new tricks when they flew off of the leaves of the trees. They flew around all day long until the sun began to set. Ruby started to get worried looking all around the area where they lived. He could not see the rest of the fairies anywhere.
He thought they would have been home by now. He told Topaz to stay home and not to follow him because he knew the mean sorceress was out there somewhere, and he didn't want Topaz to get captured. Topaz understood his uncle and listened to him. It was getting dark, so Ruby had taken a fire fly with him to see through the jungle of plants in the dark.
Topaz flew up to his bed in a big yellow tulip and curled up to fall asleep. But Topaz couldn't fall asleep without crying because he was too worried about his family, and also for his uncle Ruby. He fell asleep crying, hoping his family was ok.
Morning came and Topaz woke up. He flew up out of the tulip looking around calling everyone to get up hoping they were there, but no one in his family answered. Only the other fairies that lived there in the field of flowers. The other fairies looked at Topaz and realized that Topaz was alone.
Topaz's friend, Jasper, flew over to him and asked him if the sorceress had gotten his family. Topaz said, "she must have," because his uncle had mentioned the sorceress. The other fairies told Topaz, "Don't worry. They will come home soon. We will look after you while they are gone. "
As days and a few years had gone by, Topaz realized that his family was not coming home. So he continued to help the other fairies that needed help. But as time was passing by he began to get careless and forget what he was doing, and ended up making a mess. Pearl, Jasper's mother, told Topaz that he needed to stop day dreaming so much.
But, again Topaz did not listen. The other fairies began to get annoyed by him and started to gripe at him. Topaz was very upset and told the other fairies, "I'll show you that I can do things right. You'll see. I will bring my family back. So he flew off in a hurry towards the new area were his family was last seen leaving.
Jasper flew to catch up with him. "Topaz wait. Where are you going?" Topaz told him, "I am planning on saving my family from the sorceress." Jasper replied to him, "You can't face that mean sorceress. She will capture you and take your fairy power away."
Topaz did not care. He missed his family and wanted to see if the sorceress still had them. Jasper stopped and told him good luck. He started to head back home, but he decided to stay with Topaz to help him.
Topaz said to him "Thanks, I'm probably going to need all the help I can get. So the two good friends kept on going through the jungle of plants. On their way they saw so many new exciting things that they had never seen before. Jasper said to Topaz, "Hey! Look over there. It's a bunch of humming birds drinking out of those honeysuckles."
Topaz and Jasper were a bit tired after flying for awhile, so they went over to where the humming birds were and reached inside of a honeysuckle flower to get a drink. After drinking as much as they could, they laid down to rest on a lily pad floating in a small pond. Suddenly, a huge frog jumped up on a lily pad next to them.
Jasper and Topaz got up quick and flew away, knowing that the frog would have had them for a meal. Topaz said, "that was close, I would have hated it if we didn't get away." Jasper replied, "Yeah, and just think how that frog is compared to the sorceress that we have to face." Topaz looked at him with a little bit of fear, but he knew that he had to save his family.
The two fairies found another spot to rest before going any further. Once they had rested they started to fly a little higher to see if they could find anything that would lead them to the sorceress. Topaz and Jasper flew as high as the tall trees that reached so far up they could see for miles. They both looked all around and saw a castle that was nearby.
Topaz said to Jasper, "do you think that is where that mean sorceress lives?" Jasper answered, "I don't know. But there is only one way to find out. And that is to go there, of course."
So the two brave fairies headed for the
small castle, flying over the tall trees.
Just before they were about to reach the end of the forest of
trees they stopped to look at what was ahead of them. It was a
field of clovers so green across the land. They had not seen such
land before.
Topaz again asked Jasper, "What do you suppose that is?" The two curious fairies flew down to touch the leaves of the clovers.
Suddenly something jumped out at them, and froze them with a strange feeling of some kind of power. "Why can't we move? asked Topaz. "Because I have paralyzed you both," said a voice behind them. It was a leprechaun. He jumped in front of the two fairies and scared them. They had never seen a leprechaun before either.
Topaz said to the leprechaun, "The fairies where I am from has never gone past their land. Because the fairies do not ever want to be captured by the sorceress." He also told him about his family caught by her. The leprechaun did not believe Topaz. He said, "I have heard of you. Your not like the other fairies. You have extra special powers and you want to steal my pot of gold. You are planning to use your glitter gem to take everything, aren't you?"
Jasper and Topaz replied at the same time shaking their heads, "No. We are not here to still your gold." Topaz said, "We only want to get to my family." The leprechaun still did not believe them.
Suddenly, just when the leprechaun was about to use his powers to make them disappear, a big dragonfly came up and grabbed them both. He came by so fast that the leprechaun did not have time to get either of them.
He shook his fist at them saying, "Don't come back, or I will get you if the sorceress doesn't." Topaz and Jasper thanked the dragonfly for saving them. The dragon fly could speak to them. He told them, "Any time. I love to pester the leprechaun. He has been teasing me for a long time now."
The leprechaun's power wore off because they were able to escape. Topaz pulled out a small bag of glitter gems. He pulled a gem out and told the dragonfly, "If you take us to the castle, I'll give a gem to you for helping as a small token of our appreciation."
The dragonfly couldn't believe his eyes and said, "I did not know you fairies ever left your part of the land. No one knew where to find the glitter gems except for the ordinary fairies and the insects, and maybe some animals."
So the dragon fly took Topaz and Jasper to the castle. That way they could get all the rest they needed before facing the mean sorceress. As they reached the top of the castle they told the dragon fly goodbye. The dragon fly said "If you ever need me, my name is Sly."
"Ok, Sly," said Topaz. Sly flew off, and the two fairies decided that they needed to fly around the castle to find a way in.
Jasper called to Topaz, "Over here. An open window." They flew in the window to find old dusty bottles on the shelf, along with some books of spells.
Topaz said "Hey! This cage must have been where they were kept." Topaz started backing away from it, getting a bit nervous. He then flew over an opened book with words and pictures.
Jasper flew over to see what he was looking at and asked, "How are we supposed to understand that?" Topaz said, "Look at the picture closely. It looks like some strange fantasy world." The picture that they were staring at had a street, and buildings with people dressed funny.
Jasper told Topaz, "Use the gems to make the book talk. That way we can find out what it is. "
So Topaz reached in his small bag of glitter gems and pulled one out. He put it on top of the book and thought of what he wanted the gem to do. The book started to glow and began to speak. "In the Fantasy world there is no such power. Only those who possess them can have them. If fallen into the wrong hands there could be trouble for our world. Without the power there is no way in or no way out. Those who possess the visions, the magic glasses, will be able to see the entrance to both worlds which lie within each other."
Suddenly the book stopped talking, and the glowing dyed out.
Topaz grabbed the glitter gem and put it back in his bag. Jasper and Topaz were puzzled by what the book had said. They started to look around for such glasses. They didn't see anything like it around. Jasper saw a small wooden box in the corner on the floor. He flew over to it and tried to lift the top up, but it was too heavy. Topaz went over to help him. Still they could not lift the top off. Topaz even checked the lock, but the lock was even opened.
The two fairies backed up as Topaz sprinkled fairy dust over the box to make it open. The top came open with a whoosh, and to their surprise to what they where hoping for. The visions were in there. The door knob to the room was being jiggled by someone. The two fairies realized someone was trying to get in the door, so they tried to pick the visions up. It was too big and heavy for them to lift. So they quickly flew out the window, leaving the visions.
They were hiding around the corner of the window, peeking in. A big man with raggedy clothes on, carrying some keys, had come in looking around the room. He said in a deep voice "Is anyone in here? And if you are, come out before I find you and put you in the dungeon."
The fairies waited patiently outside until the man went away. Once the man went away and closed the door, Topaz flew inside in a hurry, and used his fairy dust on the visions to lift them up. He took them outside.
Jasper and Topaz flew to the ground in a
grassy area where no one could see them. They sat down on the
ground next to the visions, thinking of what the book meant. Jasper
suggested that they should make themselves big like humans so
that they could put the visions on to see if it made a difference.
Since the visions were too heavy to be picked up anyway. Topaz
thought that was a great idea. So the two fairies took out a glitter
gem from the small bag and became as big as a regular human.
Topaz put the visions on first. He couldn't believe his eyes,
as he starred off in the distance towards the clover field. He
could see a whole new world. At least to them, this world was
new. It was like a fantasy world. He could also see the way to
the entrance to get there. They couldn't just walk into it, even
though it looked as if they could. Topaz knew exactly what the
book meant now.
He gave the visions to Jasper so that he could see what he was looking at. Jasper handed the glasses back to Topaz once he saw it. The two fairies decided to remain human while they explored the other world.
Topaz said to Jasper, "It must be where the sorceress took my family. Because if she was still here in our world, she would have gotten us by now." Jasper agreed. They headed for the entrance in human form.
The only problem they had now was that they had no wings, and the entrance was up in the sky. Topaz, looking up, said to his friend, "We are going to have to use our fairy dust again." Jasper replied, "Ok! Lets do this." They sprinkled dust in front of them as they walked, making stairs as they went. The stairs disappeared right behind Jasper as he followed behind Topaz, making their way up higher into the sky over the clover field.
The leprechaun could see them, wondering what they were up to. He also remembered the Sorceress going up into the sky to vanish. He could not see what Topaz could see with the visions. The leprechaun got scared. He might vanish too. So he hid in the clovers, covering his eyes.
The entrance had a glow around it forming in the shape of a door. They walked right through it, not knowing what was going to happen to them. Topaz and Jasper walked right in front of a fire escape to a building. They had to jump to get across. A lady was watering her flowers in a pot on her balcony. When they came through she couldn't believe her eyes, seeing what she thought was two men jumping from the air to the fire escape.
She reached in her pocket to grab her glasses and put them on, saying to herself, "I Yi Yi! I need to wear these things more often." The two fairies were scared, but they continued on their search.
Once they got down off the fire escape onto the street, Topaz took one last look up at the entrance from where they had come, and looked at their world in a distance in front of them. Then he put the visions in his pocket.
Jasper asked Topaz, "Why do you get to hang on to the visions? I'm the one who found them." Topaz replied, "Because this is my journey we are on. And you are here to help. Remember?"
Jasper said, "Fine! But you have to share those with me." Topaz said, "Ok." Looking all around, they didn't know where to start looking. Topaz and Jasper both gave a loud whistle that only animals could hear.
They whistled a couple of times hoping to hear back a whistle from the other fairies. They didn't hear anything for the first few minutes when suddenly they heard a faint whistle coming from behind them. They continued to whistle, so they could follow were it was coming from. They had to cross streets and get around some buildings. They came to an opening were there was a huge piece of land stuck in the middle of the city. In the center of this land was a castle.
Topaz said, "That's where they are!" Topaz and Jasper decided to keep there human form when they went to rescue the other fairies. They walked for what seemed to be miles, and still was not getting to the castle.
Topaz couldn't understand why they didn't reach the castle by now. He said, "Something's wrong here. We are in the same place were we started." Jasper said, "It must be the sorceress's spell to protect the castle. We are going to have to use some of are own magic to get there." Topaz agreed.
They still didn't have wings, so they had to think of some way to get there. They tried using their fairy dust to make them fly, but that didn't even work. Topaz thought if he picked a leaf off of the tree and made it big, then using his glitter gem to make it fly, they would make it there in no time. So Topaz once again pulled out a glitter gem from the small bag that he had, and set it on top of a leaf he had made bigger with his magic dust.
They both sat down on the leaf, and then put the gem right in between them. Topaz put the thoughts into the gem to fly, and suddenly the gem lifted them with the leaf into the air and towards the castle. "It's working! exclaimed Jasper. "We are finally getting there." Jasper was right. The sorceress's magic had no effect on the glitter gems. That's how powerful they are.
They landed on top of the castle once they reached it. They landed close to the tower where the sorceress was doing her magic. They could hear her reading out loud some spells. So they got up and quietly walked over to the tower. But the sorceress knew the fairies were outside the door. She saw them on her crystal ball as they arrived outside of the castle walls.
She kept pretending to do some of her spells so that she could trap them when they came in the door. Topaz and Jasper got ready to go in after her and save the other fairies. They did not know the fairies were not in the tower. They were inside the castle in a room.
Topaz told Jasper, "I'll go in and distract the sorceress, while you go and grab the other fairies." At least that was supposed to be the plan.
As they approached the door to open it, the sorceress stopped speaking. Topaz continued to open the door anyway. The door creaked open as Topaz pushed on it. He carefully looked around the room. He didn't see her at first, or the other fairies.
When Topaz realized something was wrong, Jasper ran in to get the fairies, guessing where they were. Topaz tried to tell him to wait before he came in, but it was too late. The sorceress was hiding. She jumped at Jasper and Topaz with a net and captured them both. She turned them back into fairies. The visions fell to the floor, but Topaz still had the small bag of glitter gems. He quickly put magic dust on them to make them invisible so that Aplaysha could not see them.
She put the fairies in a jar and carried them to the room in the castle where the other fairies were. Topaz did not want to use the gems until he knew where the other fairies were. Once they reached the room, Topaz looked over to the cage were his family was kept. He tried to speak to them, but they would not answer him back. They would just look at him confused.
Aplaysha said, "Oh, don't you worry. They can not remember you because I took all their powers away. And now they have very little memory, and they are so weak they couldn't help you walk out, or even fly out of here if they wanted to."
Jasper and Topaz looked at each other scared and worried. The wicked sorceress just laughed as she put them in the cage with the rest. She turned around and started to walk off when she stopped and turned back around. Looking at the two fairies she said, "Ok, hand over the glitter gems now. I know you have some. You must give them to me." Topaz and Jasper pretended that they didn't know what she was talking about. They shook their heads at her saying they didn't bring any with them.
Aplaysha was furious. Beginning to get very upset she said, "I'm not stupid. I know you have them. So stop hiding them and put them in my hand." She held out her hand in front of the cage, but Jasper and Topaz still didn't give the gems to her. She said, "So you want to play hard to get, Huh? Well, we'll see about that." She turned around and stormed out the door, slamming it behind her.
Topaz said, "Wheoo, that was a close one." Jasper asked, "Now what are we going to do? Her magic is no match for us. We can't use the magic dust on her. It won't work and the other fairies can't even help."
Topaz said, "I don't know, but we have to think of something fast before she comes back and figures out that we do have the gems." Topaz continued to talk to the other fairies and Jasper too.
They were trying to get them to remember. Jasper took some fairy dust and blew some over them to try and trigger their memory. "It seems to be working. Keep doing it," said Topaz to Jasper.
Topaz's mom, Diamond, shook her head and began to get her memory back. "Topaz, how did you find us?" asked Diamond. Topaz told her everything. The other fairies regained there conscience also. Ruby, Topaz's uncle, told everyone to pretend that they still did not recognize Topaz and Jasper when Aplaysha came back.
They all agreed it would be the wisest thing to do, until they figured out a way to get strong again. Topaz and the other fairies didn't know that the wicked Sorceress was watching them through her crystal ball. Topaz made the small bag of glitter gems reappear and showed them to everyone. He told them they would have to use them on the sorceress. Garnett, Topaz's father, explained to him the reason the sorceress wanted the glitter gems.
He told him it was so that she could rule both their world and the fantasy world. And that she got rid of the Wizard that lived in the castle before in their world once she found out that the wizard had made the visions, and what she thought she could do with them. There are only three pairs of the visions. Topaz told his father that he had dropped the visions that he had in the tower when she captured them. The sorceress has a pair and the third pair must be back at the castle in their world.
Suddenly the door opened, and the sorceress came rushing in grabbing the bag of gems, tugging it back and forth between her and all the fairies trying to keep her from taking it. Aplaysha said, "I knew you were lying to me. Give them to me at once. Let go."
Topaz saw the leprechaun behind Aplaysha, got scared, and accidentally let go of the glitter gems. "Oh no, said Emerald, Topaz's sister, "We are never going to get out of here now."
The wicked sorceress laughed out loud, not knowing that the leprechaun was behind her. The leprechaun winked at Topaz and paralyzed the wicked sorceress. The sorceress said, "Hey! What's going on. Why can't I move?" Topaz said, "I don't understand. Why are you helping us, and how did you get here?"
The leprechaun grabbed the bag of gems and walked over to the fairies, opening the cage. Then he handed the small bag over to Topaz and said, "I didn't believe you when you told me the sorceress took your family, and you just wanted to find them. When I saw you two going into the air vanishing just like the sorceress, it made me think about trying to do the same. I couldn't see what you were looking at so I guessed about where you were. I jumped a couple of times high into the air to reach about were you two were standing, and suddenly I fell in the way you came. Ever since I've been following you. And now I can see you were right."
A big bang of smoke came from the sorceress. She said, "Foolish leprechaun. You're no match for me." She grabbed the bag of gems and ran out the door. The leprechaun was surprised that Aplaysha was able to escape his magic.
Topaz said, "We've got to go after her. She has the glitter gems. If she gets them to work she will destroy both worlds."
Diamond said, "The more glitter gems she has, the more power she will have, and she already has our two gems. How many gems did you have in the bag Topaz?"
Topaz looked at his mom and said, "I had seven, but I gave one to the dragon fly for helping us get to the castle." Everyone looked even more frightened knowing that the sorceress had well over enough gems to destroy four worlds if she wanted to. The fairies and the leprechaun went outside of the castle to look for Aplaysha.
Topaz said, "Wait! I have to go back and get the visions, or we will never find our why out." The fairies were a bit weak anyway. They wanted to rest before going any further. The leprechaun stayed with the fairies to help them get their strength back up, while Topaz flew back to the tower. When Topaz reached the tower he was worried Aplaysha might still be around. So he carefully flew in the door to get the visions. He could see them lying on the floor where he had dropped them.
He knew he couldn't just pick them up, so he had to sprinkle his dust on them to make them go up in the air. Topaz got back to his family quick before anything could happen to him. Everyone seemed to be rested up and full of their energy again, so they headed off to find their way back to their world through the city.
As they reached the city buildings the sky began to turn very dark, and storm clouds came rolling in so fast with thunder and lightning. They knew they had to find Aplaysha fast before both worlds were destroyed. They could hear the wicked sorceresses laugh in the air as the wind began to blow. Ruby shouted to everyone to hurry up. Topaz asked the leprechaun if he could make him big, so that he could carry everyone and put the visions on to find their way back to the entrance.
Topaz said to everyone once they got back to their world that they needed to get to the glitter gems where they had a very powerful and big glitter gem to destroy the wicked sorceress for good. The leprechaun made Topaz big like a human. Topaz had everyone covered in the palm of his hands so that he could protect them from the weather. The leprechaun was too big to get into his hands, so he walked along beside Topaz.
Topaz put the visions on, and headed in the direction where he could see the entrance. The leprechaun and Topaz had to fight against the wind as they walked, because the wind kept getting stronger the closer they got to the entrance. They climbed up the fire escape and jumped over through the door to the other world. They fell into the clovers were the leprechaun lived. Topaz opened his hands to let everyone out. Everybody was happy to be back in their world again.
The leprechaun turned Topaz into a fairy again. The visions dropped to the ground. Suddenly the sky started to turn dark just like the fantasy world. The fairies knew they had to get to the glitter gems in a hurry. The leprechaun said good luck to the fairies and bye. He wanted to stay with his gold in case something did happen to their world, and he was too scared to face the sorceress again.
The fairies said bye to him as he jumped in the deep patches of clovers. It was starting to get really windy all around. So windy it was impossible for them to fly in the direction they wanted to go. Sly came up and asked Topaz what was going on. Topaz told him that they had to get to their home so they could destroy the sorceress before they were destroyed. Sly said, "Come on. Get on my back. I can fly quicker than all of you."
Topaz told him he did not have any more gems to give to him for taking them, because the sorceress had all of the ones they were carrying. Sly said, " I'm not worried about that. I'm more worried about the world being destroyed. Now let's go."
So Sly flew off in a hurry with everyone on his back. They flew through the forest of trees and passed the pond where the lily pads with frogs were. They got to the field of flowers in no time. The other fairies couldn't believe their eyes.
Jasper's mom had been worried about them leaving. She was really glad to see them all again. While Topaz's family explained the whole story of what had happened, Topaz flew off to the cave nearby where they hid all the glitter gems. Sly flew beside Topaz and Jasper.
Sly asked Topaz, "Where are you going?" Topaz told him, "You must go and warn all the ordinary fairies about what's happening and bring them here to the cave." Sly replied, "Sure Topaz."
Topaz told Jasper to tell their families
and the rest of the fairies to come to the cave also. Jasper looked
at Topaz and said, "I don't know what you have in mind, but
anything has got to work to get rid of her. The wind started to
build up stronger. Jasper flew off to get everyone. Topaz reached
the cave. He was about to enter it when he heard the sorceresses
laugh again in the air. Topaz said, "Oh no! I must hurry.
He went inside the cave. The cave was dark, but glowed with gleaming
glitter along the side of the cave walls. He continued to go deeper
inside the cave. Remembering which way to go, he flew between
a small opening in the wall. He was unaware of the sorceress following
him.
She knew if she led them back to their world, they would go to the glitter gems; even though the sorceress had enough gems to destroy everything. She wanted the big one so that she could rebuild her own world of evil for her to rule and have the greatest powers ever.
The sorceress heard the other fairies coming, so she hid before anyone would see her. She camouflaged herself in the dark corner holding her staff, which was tall, made of a black pearl of steel. At the top of it was a glowing red ball, with the glitter gems she collected inside for more power. Backing up quickly, making the staff's red glow die down, Jasper and the fairies flew by, even the ordinary fairies with Sly.
As they passed Aplaysha up, she barely stepped out of the dark a few feet behind them. No one noticed as she kept her distance. Topaz was waiting inside the big room of the cave where the glitter gems were. He was admiring the gems, as they give such a powerful glitter glow of colors. Everyone came into the room where Topaz was. Sly and the ordinary fairies could not believe there eyes.
Only the glitter gem fairies had seen this secret room until now, but everyone knew that they had to work together to get rid of the evil sorceress. As they stood there, Ruby, Topaz's uncle, said, " OK, let's hear your plan now. Topaz told them they could all be together as one with the glitter gems if they were to use the power to combine themselves with the glitter gems, so that they would posses the power forever and never have to worry about the sorceress taking their gems away again.
Everyone was speechless, and Topaz was starting to get worried. "Say something. Will you? exclaimed Topaz. Everyone spoke at the same time." Topaz told Sly, "You can even be with us. Only you wouldn't be an ordinary dragon fly. You would be a powerful dragon fly along with the ordinary fairies. They would have power as well. After all, you did help us quite a bit.
The cave began to shake. They knew they had to hurry. They just hoped that it would work. Suddenly across the cave the sorceress laughed at them, "Do you really think you could have gotten away from me without those gems? Everyone was surprised and scared. The sorceress pointed her staff at the gems and started to speak out load one of her spells. The cave began to shake louder.
Topaz told everyone to fly up to the big gem and put their hands on it. Concentrating on what they wanted, to be part of the gems. They all thought of becoming the gem that they were named after with power. Sly didn't have a gem name, so he thought of one anyway. The big powerful gem began to glow so bright. Everyone had to close their eyes so tight because it hurt to keep them opened. The sorceress was trying to keep from falling as the cave began to crumble and the earth was rumbling.
She pulled back her staff and was getting angry. She couldn't control her power over the big gem, as the fairies were using it to defeat her powers over it. Suddenly a big explosion happened over the outside of the cave. The top of the mountain, where the cave was, opened up like a volcano. It was a shower of rocks and glitter that came shooting out of it instead of lava.
The sorceress got so angry her staff was glowing bright red. It burned her hand. She had to let it go. It fell to the ground and broke. She yelled, "No! My staff!" The glitter gem the fairies were holding on to kept glowing really strong. The sorceress began to stare right into it, like she was in a trance of some kind. Suddenly she got zapped by it like a lightening bolt, as it began to spin. She disappeared up in smoke. You couldn't see the fairies or Sly anymore, as the big gem spun faster and faster going up in the air. As it reached the top out of the mountain, it exploded with a loud boom shattering everywhere.
The fairies and Sly got shot out of there so far they fell from the sky right into the stream on the other side of the castle. Jasper shouted, "Look! The sky isn't dark anymore." Everyone looked at each other in great disbelieve. Everyone looked different. They still looked like fairies, but they noticed that in the girls, belly button was a small gem. Topaz had a yellow gem on his thumb. Emerald, his sister, had a green gem in her belly button. Everyone had one.
The boys had gems on there thumbs. Some had it on their right thumb, and some had it on their left thumb. Even the ordinary fairies weren't ordinary any more. They had become just like the glitter gems. Topaz noticed that he didn't see Sly anywhere.
He called for him. Sly flew right up to
him. Topaz smiled and said, "Hey Sly, are you ok?" Sly
said, "Yep, but are you ok? You look a little different to
me." Topaz replied, "Yes, and did you know that you
have a gem on the top of your head?" Sly shook his head and
asked, "Where?" Topaz laughed at him. Sly asked, "What's
so funny?" Topaz told him, "It is part of you now. Just
like the gems on us are a part of us.
Only we have one color. How did you get one that has many colors
to it?"
Sly did not understand it. Because he couldn't see it. He said, "I thought of all the gems when everyone was thinking of the gems they were named after. Sly asked, "Does this mean I have powers now?" Jasper replied, " Lets try it out. Jasper put his hand in a fist shape and pointed his thumb in the direction where the castle had been partly torn apart from the storm. He thought of the pieces of the wall that had fallen to the ground, lifting up and putting it back together with the castle.
He could see the big man, who had opened the door in the room when he and Topaz were in there hiding trying to get the visions earlier. The man was standing on top of the castle scratching his head as he was trying to figure out how the castle wall was being put together, which looked like - by itself. Everyone laughed. Topaz said, "Yep. It works."
All the fairies headed back to the field of flowers where they lived. Everyone felt safer knowing that they had the powers with them. They all celebrated that night, for they felt they would never have to worry about the evil sorceress again. All the fire flies flew around in the air, with the fairies flying with them as they were singing. Some of the fairies danced around on the ground and on top of branches of trees.
They sung a song about getting rid of the sorceress and her never coming back again. But little did they know. The evil sorceress wasn't gone for good. She vanished so that everyone would believe she was gone. She headed for Dragon mountain. She figured if she went where no one would suspect where she was, she could gain her powers back and plan a way of getting the glitter gem fairies for good.
No one liked going to the mountain where the dragons lived. Especially the fairies, because they knew the dragons loved to eat them for a snack. The fairies celebrated all night long until they fell asleep one by one. The evil sorceress still had one gem that she had grabbed from the broken staff right before she disappeared.
She had used the gem to make a ball of light hover above and in front of her, so that she could see her way through the dark night in the deep forest as she made her way to her destination. She walked for miles until she came across a small cottage. She said to herself, "What do we have here?" There was a light on inside, so she decided to get a close look by looking in the window to see who was in there.
She could see a creature called a moattes, part mole and part Troll. Only these creatures like to live in cottages rather then under a bridge or in the ground, usually keeping to themselves. The sorceress was pleased to find such a creature. She decided that she would have this creature work for her. She knocked on the door a couple of times. The moatess did not want to answer, so he ignored her.
Aplaysha was losing her patience, so she used the gem again to break down the door with a great big gust of wind coming out of her mouth. The door came crashing down with a load bang. The moatess was scared and hid under his bed. He was not a big creature. He stood about 4 1\2 feet tall.
Aplaysha walked up to the bed and bent over to look under the bed at the moatess. The moatess was covering his head with his arms. He was shaking like a leaf.
Aplaysha said, "Hello there. Your not afraid are you?" The moatess turned his head and said, "No. Should I be?" Aplaysha replied back in a friendly way, "Not at all. She asked, "What do you call yourself?" The moatess replied, "I call myself Mainkly."
Mainkly got out from underneath the bed and asked Aplaysha what she wanted from him. Aplaysha told him she needed him to be her assistant to help her get her powers back from the fairies, and that he had no choice as to whether he was going to help or not.
So Mainkly and the sorceress sat down at the table, and she explained what her plans were. They stayed up for a long time talking. Mainkly decided that he liked the evil sorceress, because they shared something in common, and that was that moatess creatures did not like others too well, and the sorceress didn't either. All the sorceress dreamed about was ruling the world with all the powers in her hands, and she intended to make it happen.
They talked until they both fell fast asleep with there heads down on the table. When morning came Aplaysha and Mainkly both headed off, walking to the dragon mountain. On the way, they came across a swampy area at the bottom of the mountain. They had to cross some rocks that was in the water to get across. As they stepped onto each rock a little fish kept jumping over the rock in front of them.
Aplaysha said, "What a funny little fish that is. Every time we take a step it jumps across." Suddenly when Aplaysha and Mainkly both stepped onto the biggest rock in the middle of the pond, it moved and made a sound.
Aplaysha asked, "Now where did that fish go?" It seemed the little fish disappeared when the rock began to move.
Aplaysha and Mainkly both tried to stay still for a moment. But the rock continued to rock back and forth and growl at them. Aplysha said "Come on. Let's hurry and get across." They ran and jumped across to each rock trying to make it across. The big rock seemed to be a creature lying in the path of the rocks. The creature got up and grabbed Mainkly, swallowing him whole. Mainkly tried to yell out to Aplaysha as he was eaten up.
Aplaysha stopped and turned around and saw this happen to him. She was mad that the creature had taken him away from her. The creature growled at her and tried to grab her. But Aplaysha said, "Oh no you don't. I'll show you who is boss." She got out her gem because that was the only power she had. She got the gem and forced a big ball of power to go into the creature's mouth and forced it to open wide.
The creature swiped at his mouth as the ball of power went into its stomach, bringing Mainkly out and put him across the swamp. The creature became confused and got scared away, and swam off into the deeper part of the water. Mainkly asked Aplaysha why she did not get rid of that hideous looking thing. "It tried to eat me, Aplaysha told him. "I need creatures like that to get ride of creatures like the glitter gem fairies, as Aplaysha seemed to think the world was already hers."
They continued to head for the dragon mountain. The glitter gem fairies were trying to get back to their every day life that they had, now that they think the evil sorceress is gone. Topaz talked to his family about what he had been doing while they were gone, as they searched for berries for their morning breakfast. After they ate there berries, Topaz wanted to go and explore with his friends, Jasper and Sly. His mom and dad believed he could look after himself . After all, he did save his family from the evil sorceress.
Emerald wanted to go with her brother, but Topaz did not want his sister to go.
Emerald was mad that her brother and friends had left without her. She decided to go and spy on them. She took off to find them before they got too far. Aplaysha and Mainkly got to the entrance to the cave. Aplaysha found a long thick stick . She looked at it and said, "This will be my new staff." She pulled the gem out of her pocket and had the gem form the stick into a strong staff with a glass ball attached on top for the gem to sit inside. The new staff is smaller and not as strong as the one she had, because she only had one gem.
Not realizing that the fairies are one with the gems now, she said, "As soon as I get my hands on the other gems I will have the greatest and strongest staff, and no one will be able to destroy it. They entered the dark cave entrance with a little red glow from her staff to light the way.
Mainkly told Aplaysha, "There is a secret about the dragons in the dragon mountain." Aplaysha said, "Hurry up. Tell me. What is it?" Mainkly told her that the old dragon, that never leaves, protects a hidden dragon eye that can destroy the glitter gem fairies and their gems that they have.
Aplaysha asked, "You mean that there is something here more powerful than those stupid glitter gems? Mainkly replied, "Yes. Then he told her how the dragon eye came about. "Long ago, before you were born, a wizard, named Geara, fought off a very powerful dragon.
Aplaysha said, "That was my father. Go on with the story."
Mainkly continued. He said, "Geara fought the dragon and defeated him, took his eye, and put his power in with the eye. Now the eye has the power of the dragon and the wizards."
"Geara was dying from the injures that the dragon had given him. So he knew he had to do something before someone discovered it. He wanted to hide it, but another dragon came along and snatched the weakened wizard and eye. The dragon took off with him up here in dragon mountain, and the rumor is, the old dragon is protecting it."
Aplaysha was excited from such a story. She exclaimed, "Why didn't I know of this? How could it have been such a secret?"
Mainkly said, "No one knows about it. I know, because the story was passed on through the years in my family." Mainkly said, "My grandfather saw the whole fight between the wizard and the dragon.
Aplaysha said, "If this is true, I will be so powerful that no one can get rid of me. Not even those glitter gem fairies. "
As they continued through the dark cave, Topaz, Jasper, and Sly, were playing in the pond nearby, where the humming birds drank from the honey suckles. They were no longer scared of the frogs, because they were able to get rid of the frogs with the gems on there thumbs if one would pop up. Emerald was still spying on her brother and friends. She was hiding in the bushes.
Aplaysha and Mainkly reached the part of the cave where the old dragon was. He was the biggest dragon any one had seen. His scales were rough and shinny with green and red colors. Aplaysha wanted to get a closer look at the dragon, but she did not want to wake him up just yet. She needed to get prepared to fight him.
But the dragon opened one eye and spoke to her, "What is your business here in my cave? Mainkly was scared. He was hiding behind a rock. Aplaysha answered the dragon, "I have come here to regain my powers. Those glitter gem fairies have taken them from me." The dragon tells her, "There are no powers here for you. Aplaysha said, "I know for a fact there is powers here, and a very powerful dragon eye, as a matter of fact." The dragon looked surprised that Aplaysha spoke of the dragon eye.
He lifted himself up on his front feet and blew fire into the air up towards the roof of the cave with such anger. He asked, "How is it that you know of the dragon eye?"
Aplysha answered, "Geara was my father." Mainkly looked very worried about this, so he started to slowly back away into the back of the cave. Not looking at him, Aplaysha told Mainkly, "If you leave, you will be destroyed." Mainkly quickly went back behind the rock he was hiding behind before.
The dragon said, "If you want the dragon
eye you must fight me for it." Aplysha said, "Yes. I
know. The dragon quickly got up on all four feet and said, "Very
well." Aplaysha quickly made a shield with her staff, for
she knew the dragon was going to try and spit fire at her. And
he did just that. The dragon blew fire so strong at her that it
took his breath away. Aplaysha knew the dragon was old and could
not fight with much power.
The old dragon coughed as he was trying to catch his breath again
to blow more fire out at her. The old dragon was furious. He stood
on his hind legs and gave out a huge roar. Then he tried to blow
more fire at her, but Aplaysha put up her shield again.
Topaz and the others heard this roar from where they where. Jasper said, "What was that? Sly replied, " It sounds like it came from dragon mountain. Stay here. I will check it out and be right back." Sly took off to dragon mountain to see what was going on. Emerald got scared, so she ran back home. Topaz saw his sister flying off out of the bushes. Topaz said, "I can't believe my sister was spying on us."
The dragon was getting tired from blowing
fire at Aplaysha, so he tried to swipe at her with his claws.
But his claws went right through Aplaysha as she made herself
translucent to him. The dragon was too tired and old to keep fighting
her. Aplaysha told the dragon, "Give up old dragon. You are
no match for me. You are too weak.
The dragon was too exhausted. So he told her, "You are right.
I will give you what you want. Sly had come into the cave just
in time to hear this."
He said to himself, "Oh no. The sorceress is back. I've got to warn the others." Sly flew off in a hurry to tell his friends and the others. The old dragon moved a small bolder with his paws where he was lying down before. He told Aplaysha that the dragon eye was in the hole underneath the small bolder.
Aplaysha told Mainkly to go and get it. Mainkly was too scared he was shaking from such fright. He did not want to budge. Aplaysha yells, "Go get it for me." Mainkly hurried over to where the dragon was. The dragon watched Mainkly close with his eyes. Aplaysha did not trust the old dragon. She told him if he tried anything she would make him disappear for good. The dragon says he would not try anything, because she had beat him in the fight.
Aplaysha said, "Good. Now hurry up Mainkly!" Mainkly quickly grabbed the dragon eye that was in the hole. When he pulled it out, the dragon eye glowed a blue glow when he touched it. Aplaysha looked so pleased and excited. She said, "Quickly. Bring it to me. "Topaz and the others were scared to hear the news about the evil sorceress still alive. Topaz said, "We have to stop her for good this time. All the fairies got together to head off to dragon mountain."
The old dragon flew out of the cave. For he knew he was no longer welcome in his own cave, because Aplaysha had taken over. All the fairies could see the huge dragon fly out of the cave. They couldn't believe their eyes. You could hear Aplaysha's wicked laugh in the air again. Jasper said, "We have to hurry."
Aplaysha held up the dragon eye in the air with both hands and began to speak her spells. The dragon eye no longer glowed a blue glow. It quickly turned a bright red glow when Aplaysha touched it. As Aplaysha spoke out loud her spells, her staff lifted off the ground were she had left it. It spun in the air, changing into a stronger staff, as the dragon eye joined the gem inside the ball on top of the staff.
Mainkly was still scared. He didn't know
what the sorceress would do, so he, once again, tried to slip
away. He made it through the tunnels of the cave. When Aplaysha
noticed he had left, she made a ball of fire from her staff and
turned it into a crystal ball. She placed it in her hands, asking
the crystal ball to show her Mainkly. She said to herself, "You
will not escape me. After all, I no longer need you for anything."
With a wave of her hand at the crystal ball, she turned Mainkly
into a carving in the cave walls.
Suddenly she could see in her crystal ball about 40 fairies coming
her way through the tunnel. She said, "Well, well, why don't
you all keep coming right for me?" She waited for them, as
she hid in the cave in the dark.
The fairies passed Mainkly. Ruby asked, "What's that?" They all stared at the wall. Topaz replied, "It must have been Aplayshas doing. They continued through the dark tunnel. When they reached the part of the cave where Aplaysha was, they took a look around. They couldn't see her anywhere.
Topaz yelled, "Come out wherever you are." Aplaysha just laughed out loud. Her laughter echoed all over the cave. They couldn't tell where the laughter was coming from. Topaz told everyone, "Ok everyone, when she shows her face we must put our powers together and make her vanish for good this time."
Aplaysha stepped out from the dark area were she was standing. She told them, "Foolish little bugs. You are still no match for me either." She pointed her staff in the direction of all the fairies, and a beam of light came shooting out at them. It hit a group of fairies, knocking them down to the ground.
Aplaysha told them, "Hand over the gems, and I will let you all go free. Topaz yelled, "Now! to the other fairies."
The boy fairies pointed there thumbs toward her, as the girl's had their gems on their bellies pour out the power as well towards Aplaysha. Sly had his power come out from the top of his head where his gem was. With all the glitter gem fairies, power coming together, the gems, power was so great and powerful, the evil sorceress had no chance at all. Aplaysha did not know that the gems were a part of the fairies.
With the beams of light hitting Aplaysha so hard and fast, she couldn't move. Once again she let go of her staff, and it fell to the ground breaking the glass ball. Suddenly the beams of light made Aplaysha turn into stone, then shattering everywhere. The dragon's eye came rolling out of the broken glass ball. It turned into the glowing blue color once again.
Emerald flew over to the eye and picked it up. "What's this?" she asked. Topaz replied, "It looks like a dragon's eye." A voice from behind them said, "It is. "It was Mainkly. He had come back to life when the sorceress disappeared. Her spell was broken for good.
Mainkly told them, "I will return it
to the old dragon, who will protect it.
The fairies returned to their field of flowers, and Mainkly gave
the old dragon back what belonged to him. Then Mainkly returned
to his home.
The fairies never had to worry about the evil sorceress again. The old dragon made sure of that, as he watched over the shattered pieces of stone which was once the sorceress.
