3D Entertainment: 3-D Eyewear

3D glasses still the best way to see 3-D images

New versions of the 3-D goggle coming- non-eyewear 3D being developed

The standard 3D glasses, mostly used in movie theaters for the past 50 years, are giving way to a new breed of 3D glasses for both theater and home use.

With a pair of 3-D glasses (also called eyewear or goggles) for the home, you can become immersed in unbelievably real 3-D gaming and graphic environments. Stereoscopic 3D glasses instantly create a truly 3-dimensional viewing experience with gaming titles and some DVDs.

Movie theater style 3-D glasses

Linear Polarized Glasses are the general purpose glasses used for polarized projection of slide shows, multi-media displays, concerts, movies, simulator rides, and viewing vectographs.

The 3D glasses needed to watch 3D movies in the theater are often provided by the movie theater or film company for free use. These are the familiar cardboard and plastic glasses worn for decades that achieve the desired effect on the big screen.

Some people have purchased their own set of quality 3D glasses that provide a better viewing experience.

3D eyewear for the home TV

For home viewing, other types of glasses are needed. By bringing your own glasses to the IMAX theatre you avoid having to use worn or scratched lenses, thus making your experience at the theatre more enjoyable.

3D eyewear needed for the new breed to 3D HD's will often be provided by the manufacturer. This will add about $200-300 cost to fully equip a 3D capable entertainment unit.

3D Goggles for the PC

Two computer companies, AsusTek Computer, Inc. and Acer Inc. have developed a 3D screen on their laptop models. Sharp has a computer that does not need glasses, but the viewing angle is limited.

The all-new i-glasses PC HR is plug and play compatible with virtually all computer systems including PC's, laptops and even some popular PDAs. 3-D Images are sharp, clear, rich and vibrant. This product provides a single viewing solution for a whole new generation of computing and PDA devices. The 3D glasses features true 800x600 resolution, includes a vga connection and power supply, plug and play compatible. Find out more about the I-O Display I-glasses PC HR - 3D glasses from Amazon.
