Clarkdale, Arizona

- Clarkdale, just two miles northwest of
Cottonwood, began as a smelter town. Many of the old houses and
building still stand. When the smelter closed down in 1952, many
residents lost their jobs. The Phoenix Cement Company, which
provided the cement for the Glen Canyon Dam at the Colorado River,
moved in its place.
