Greta Garbo Honored with a Postage Stamp
The U.S. Postal Service joins Sweden Post in celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of legendary film actress Greta Garbo.She is remembered for her beauty, talent and enigmatic personality that continues to resonate with film audiences today.
New York City, as host to the first-day-of-issue ceremony, is the only city in the nation where the stamp will be available that day. The Greta Garbo stamp will be available at Post Offices and Philatelic Centers nationwide beginning Sept. 24.
Joining the celebration, Sweden Post will also hold a first-day-of-issue stamp dedication ceremony in Garbo’s birthplace, Stockholm, Sweden.
The U.S. Postal Service’s first-day-of-issue ceremony to dedicate the 37-cent Greta Garbo commemorative postage stamp will be on September 23rd at 11:00 a.m..
This is a joint issuance with Sweden Post.

The ceremony will be held at the Scandinavia House, The Nordic Center in America, at 58 Park Avenue (between 37th and 38th St.) New York, New York

Reisfield, Nephew-in-law of Greta Garbo, Gray Reisfield Horan, Great Niece of Greta Garbo. Also, David Solomon, Vice President of Area Operations, United States Postal Service, His Excellency Mr. Kjell Anneling, Ambassador, Counsul General of Sweden and Ingemar Persson, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Sweden Post will attend.
