ABC News Radio Reports: Madonna “Biting Fingernails Off” During Premiere of Documentary

In an exclusive interview with ABC Radio’s ePrep service, ABC News Radio Entertainment Producer Andrea Dresdale chatted with Madonna Wednesday evening about her upcoming CD, Confessions on a Dance Floor, and her new documentary, I’m Going to Tell You a Secret, which will have its broadcast premiere this Friday night at 10:00 p.m. ET on MTV.

ABC Radio’s ePrep service provides format-specific entertainment news and features to hundreds of morning radio shows across the country.

The following are excerpts from the interview that can be used with credit to “ABC News Radio.”

On her nervousness before Tuesday night’s premiere:

“I was sitting there in the theater at the back showing it to people for the first time. It was like a puddle of sweat around my feet. It was like, ‘Oh my God, oh my God, I hope I did the right thing. Oh, that scene is too long. Oh, that’s too short. Are they going to get this part? Are they going to like this? Oh, they’re going to think it’s boring.’ Just worrying the whole way, biting my fingernails off.”

On what she wants fans to get out of the documentary: “I want everyone to really feel a sense of responsibility for the world around them, but more importantly I want them to feel inspired and to really feel like they can make a difference. That’s really my intention in making the film.”

On herself since the 1993 Truth or Dare tour:

“It would be kind of tragic and pathetic if I was still the same person. I think that while I had some redeeming traits and qualities when I made Truth or Dare, I was still…there’s a lot about me that I think is kind of selfish and kind of juvenile, and I’m happy to know that I’ve evolved and moved on.”

On her reaction after the premiere of the documentary:

“When I got to the end of it and I could really feel that people enjoyed it…that was a huge relief for me.”
