(Phoenix, AZ) One of the Valley’s most celebrated choruses, the Sonoran Desert Chorale will
kick off the holiday season with two performances of “Home for the Holidays” featuring the
Southwest Brass.Sonoran Desert ChoralePerformances will be held on Saturday December 8th at 7:30 pm at the First
United Methodist Church, 15 E. First Ave, Mesa, and Sunday December 9th at 3:00 pm at the
Valley Presbyterian Church, 6947 E. MacDonald Drive, Scottsdale.Sonoran Desert ChoraleFeaturing traditional as well
as contemporary hymns and carols, this vibrant and inspirational concert combines the Sonoran
Desert Chorale’s acclaimed voices with the jubilant and festive sounds of musicians from the

This is the Chorale’s 14th year of celebrating the season with its inspirational and unique
performances. Under the baton of Music Director Jeff Harris, the 60 member Chorale will
perform an enchanting array of selections for the “Home for the Holidays” concerts. Sonoran Desert ChoraleThese
selections include "Personet Hodie" from the Renaissance period, "Four Old Flemish Christmas
Carols" settings by Flor Peeters; "Benedicamus Domino" by Peter Warlock; the haunting "Lux
Aurumque" by Eric Whitacre; and, the highlight of the program, Daniel Pinkham's "Christmas
Cantata," a festive three movement piece for chorus, brass and organ.

The “Home for the Holidays” concerts will also explore a variety of styles including a new
jazz/spiritual piece by Bob Chilcott (of King's Singers fame) entitled "Remember, O Thou Man”,
contrasted by the traditional carols such as "The Wexford Carol", Mack Wilberg's "Carol To The
King" (French) and "The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy," both scored for four-hands piano and
percussion. The concerts conclude with a rousing audience sing-a-long of traditional carols for
the holiday season with full brass, percussion and organ accompaniment.
Tickets for Sonoran Desert Chorale’s “Home for the Holidays” are $15 for adults, and $12 for Students/Seniors and may be purchased by calling the Chorale’s office at 480-820-2764. Tickets will also be available 30 minutes prior to the concert at the door.
