John Mayer's CONTINUUM Goes Platinum; Winter Tour Dates

Mayer to Make 'Oprah' Debut, Asks Fans to Participate in His American Music Awards Performance and Plans a Return to The Late Show With David Letterman for Third Consecutive Thanksgiving Performance

John Mayer's third studio album, CONTINUUM, which was released on September 12, 2006 by Aware/Columbia Records, has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales exceeding one million copies.

The accomplishment marks Mayer's third album to earn and/or surpass the platinum achievement. His debut album, Room For Squares is four times platinum, with sales exceeding four million, and his sophomore album, Heavier Things, has sold over two million albums, earning the singer/songwriter two platinum plaques.

On November 15, 2006, the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter will make his first live performance on The Oprah Winfrey Show (check local listings) and also plans a performance on the American Music Awards on November 21 at 8pm ET/PT on ABC. Mayer's AMA performance that night of "Belief," (the second single from CONTINUUM) will feature both fans and familiar faces who have responded to Mayer's "What Do You Believe" query posted on his website, http://www.johnmayer.com/.

Submissions of photos and a "belief" statement (in ten words or less) are being accepted through Mayer's website until 12:00am EST Monday, November 13th. Selected entries will be featured during his AMA performance.

A special Thanksgiving performance on The Late Show with David Letterman is planned for November 23, 2006. The performance will be Mayer's third consecutive holiday visit to the set of the Late Show where.

On the heels of an international tour, Mayer recently announced the CONTINUUM Winter Tour which begins January 27th at the Veteran's Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, FL and concludes on February 22 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Tickets become available to the public on November 11, 2006.

CONTINUUM is a pop/rock album showcasing Mayer's influences, rich lyrics, the groove of the guitar-slinging bluesman, and the soulful vocals. CONTINUUM earned four stars from Rolling Stone Magazine; USA Today wrote, Mayer's "smartly crafted third album combines singer/songwriter pop and sinewy guitar blues;" and the New York Times weighed in, "Mayer has been writing songs again, good ones, with all the leanness and directness that distinguish his strongest work."

CONTINUUM was co-produced by John Mayer and Steve Jordan and includes the #1 hit "Waiting On The World To Change," and its follow-up single, "Belief." The album features sultry grooves such as "I Don't Trust Myself With Loving You," "Slow Dancing In A Burning Room," and the Sam Cooke- flavored "I'm Gonna Find Another You." Fans of the John Mayer Trio will recognize "Vultures" and "Gravity" reworked for the studio by John, Steve, and Pino, as well as a blazing display of fretwork on Jimi Hendrix's "Bold As Love." Longtime fans will recognize "Heart of Life" and "Stop This Train" as trademark Mayer material.

A musician and collaborator who exceeds genre boundaries, Mayer famously toured and recorded with power players Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan as the John Mayer Trio, whose live album TRY! was released in November '05. Mayer 's other collaborations -- from Rock to Blues, Hip-Hop to Jazz to Country -- include Eric Clapton, BB King, Buddy Guy, T-Bone Burnett, Herbie Hancock, Dixie Chicks, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, and Ahmir Guestlove. From his acclaimed debut 'Room For Squares' in 2001, through 2003's 'Heavier Things,' to his most recent work with the John Mayer Trio, the guitarist, vocalist and songwriter has sold more than eight million albums and earned three Grammy Awards.
