By Steve Starr
The world’s first winner of the title Mr. USA, Ivan Rusilko, was crowned at the Lennox Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts, in September of 2008. Rusilko is a champion bodybuilder who teaches a highly unique regimen that asks no one to lift more than twenty pound weights, and his astounding form is enough to convince anyone that this man who at 24 is a professional model, world traveler, musician, fourth year medical student, and, to boot, the winner of Best Physique and Best Smile, certainly knows what he is doing.
Rusilko, who was born and raised and continues to keep a home in Meadville, Pennsylvania, is anticipating his graduation in May 2009 from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is presently a member of The American Medical Association, The Florida Medical Association, The Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, The Georgetown University Legacy Society, The Radiology Society of North America, The George Washington University Heritage Society, The American Osteopathic Society, and several other distinguished organizations.
Dr. Peter Harnois, the owner and founder of America’s first Lumineers center, Your LifeSmiles, asked Rusilko to represent his company and brought him to his luxurious Chicago office at One Magnificent Mile to apply the naturally gorgeous porcelain Lumineers, a non invasive procedure on March 9, 2009, further enhancing Rusilko’s already fantastic smile just two days before he flew to Australia to model in a fashion event.
That afternoon, I was the only photographer asked to capture the grin of the handsome man who is engaging, friendly, completely unpretentious, smart, and polite. We all had a great time, and the photo results seem just right for IMAGE Chicago Magazine. Rusilko stated that he wants to settle down and have a family someday…he will likely be very, very rich by then.
