The Woody Woodpecker cartoon character evolved over the decades and was later drawn by Chuck Jones. Woody's voice was originally done by Mel Blanc. Ben Hardaway and, then, Grace Stafford, the wife of Walter Lantz also did Woody's voice.
The
first Woody Woodpecker cartoons were first broadcast in 1957 in the
"Woody Woodpecker Show." The cartoon series featured Lantz cartoon
caracters. The TV show is still in television syndication. Woody has a
star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on 7000 Hollywood Blvd. Read more
