LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 11/10/2004 -- On a hot,
sticky afternoon this June, 46,000 people gathered at the Cotton Bowl in
Dallas, Texas, to witness the once-in-a-lifetime congregation of
musical legends at the ERIC CLAPTON CROSSROADS GUITAR FESTIVAL. Warner
Strategic Marketing (WSM), Reprise, and Duck are pleased to announce the
three-day concert event is now available on a two-disc DVD set
containing over four hours of extraordinary footage.
The
unprecedented gathering of dozens of the world's top rock, blues,
country, jazz and folk guitarists featured artists such as Eric Clapton,
Santana, ZZ Top, James Taylor, John Mayer, Joe Walsh, Buddy Guy, Robert
Cray, Jimmie Vaughn, Robert Randolph, Eric Johnson and many more.
WSM/Reprise has released the DVD set for a suggested retail price of
$29.99. Special features will include behind-the-scenes footage, artist
interviews, alternate angle viewing capabilities, and much more.
Four years in the making, Clapton's dream-cast has now become a
reality. Many of the most revered guitarists in the world came to
fruition at Crossroads on June 4-6 in Dallas. The first event of its
kind, the three-day spectacular bridged musicians and fans alike through
the numerous guitar exhibits, clinics and ultimately the 11-hour
concert at the Cotton Bowl that raised almost $2.5 million for charity.
"The Crossroads Guitar Festival started with a list of players I
admire, musicians whose work on the guitar has inspired legions of
others to follow the same path," said Clapton. "My wish list grew into a
three-day event as responses came back with resounding affirmation."
Royalties from DVD sales will go to the Crossroads Centre in
Antigua, founded by Clapton in 1997 to provide treatment and education
to chemically dependant persons.
