SXSW 2007

South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference & Festival -- An Up Close and Personal Opportunity

The 21st edition of the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference and Festival, one of the most highly anticipated music industry events of the year, takes place Wednesday, March 14 through Sunday, March 18, 2007 in Austin, Texas.

SXSW and its participants share innovative ideas, attend informative panel discussions, network at an expansive trade show, hear every genre of music, and enjoy unfettered access to industry professionals. Despite pervasive technology that can be used for access to almost any person, product or idea accessible to us at our fingertips, it is still resoundingly evident that it has never been more important for industry professionals to meet face to face. Austin Texas in the Springtime is the perfect place for that to happen.

SXSW 2007 Major Sponsors provide critical support for the event and include Miller Lite, Verizon, Yaris, Blender Magazine, IFC: the Independent Film Channel and founding sponsor the Austin Chronicle.

The 2007 SXSW Music Conference held at the Austin Convention Center will feature over 70 panel discussions, interviews, demo listening sessions and the SXSW mentor program. The daytime program of educational, informative and entertaining presentations is a core component of the event which covers business and creative issues in music.

Highlights will include: Peter Townshend's Keynote Interview; SXSW Interviews featuring Gilberto Gil, Emmylou Harris, Terry McBride, Ricki Lee Jones, Booker T Jones, Joe Boyd and Iggy Pop. Panels include: 'Say It Loud, I'm WHAT? and I'm Proud'; 'Record Companies: Who Needs Them?'; 'China's Emerging Music Market'; 'Re-inventing Payment Models for Digital Music'; and 'Greening the Music Industry'.

The SXSW Trade Show Exhibition will host an array of events and exhibitors. The three day music trade show offers a unique opportunity for thousands of industry professionals to meet in one-on-one scenarios and exchange information. Participating organizations from around the world including Canada, Finland, France, Ireland, Japan, Korea, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, UK, and from every corner of the United States will be on hand to aid in broadening careers for both American and international bands and companies.
But the top attraction is, as always, the music.

The SXSW Music Festival, which spans five nights, will present over 1400 musical acts on over 65 stages in venues ranging from the most intimate clubs to the outdoor SXSW Dew Music Festival Town Lake Stage. The music starts on Wednesday, March 14 and runs through Sunday, March 18. A very small sampling of bands includes Peter, Bjorn and John; UGK; Chamillionaire, The Stooges; The Good, The Bad & The Queen; Mika; Amy Winehouse; Lily Allen; The Bravery; Mew; Satellite Party; Allison and Buzzcocks.
