There are several shuttles that run every few minutes from the McCarran International Airport to the various hotels around the Las Vegas Strip.
The shuttles are located the west side of
the baggage claim, outside of the airport. Use outdoor exits 7-13. Tell
the attendant the hotel name.
Shuttles operate seven days a week. Shuttle
fees are all about the same and start at $6.00US per person to the Las
Vegas Strip hotels and about $7.50-8.00 for downtown hotels. Offstrip
hotel shuttle service usually starts about $7-8.00. Roundtrip tickets
can be bought. A taxi costs about $15 one way to the Strip and $25 to
downtown, not including the tip.
Walk up limousine service can run from 455 and up. Walk up sedan services can start at $39 and up.
Ask the shuttle driver for a card or phone
number to call for a pick-up to return to the airport. Check to see when
the company wants you to call. Some require either 24 hours or at least
two hours notice before the time you want to arrive at the airport.
When you leave the airport terminal, look
for the shuttle signs. Shuttle rides are about 20-30 minutes for the
entire ride. The Rio Hotel is the last stop.
Free Shuttle on the Strip; monorail ride
A free tram runs between the Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay Hotels. The tram operates 24 hours a day.
A monorail runs on the east side of the
Strip. There are monorail stations at the following locations (located
behind the Strip casinos) from north to south from the Sahara, LV
Hilton, the Convention Center, Harrah's, Flamingo, Bally's to the MGM.
One way ride is $5. A one day unlimited ride pass is $12. A three day
unlimited pass is $28.
Las Vegas' public transportation system is
called CAT (Citizen Area Transit). The fare is $2 (exact change
required). The CAT bus system runs up and down the Strip and throughout
Las Vegas and downtown.
