Bush Elementary Schools in Phoenix to kick off Read Across America, the NEA’s year-round literacy campaign. READesign Library MakeoverThe library at Maie Bartlett Heard Elementary School in Maricopa County will get a new look thanks to the NFL Players Association and The Heart of America’s READesign Library Makeover Program. Active and retired players will be on hand to read to the kids – in English and Spanish - as well as participate in the renovation, which includes a donation of 5,000 brand new books, new shelving and furniture, a commemorative mural, and some of the latest technology. Every book donated will contain a bookplate featuring the name of an active NFL player. The READesign will take place on Friday, February 1st from 2:00 to 6:00pm. Super Bowl Gospel CelebrationFor the first time in its nine year history, the NFL sanctioned Super Bowl Gospel Celebration (SBGC) will present the first ever NFL Players All-Star Choir, featuring some of the most musically talented NFL players in the nation. The 32-member choir will perform during the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration weekend concert at Symphony Hall in Phoenix on Friday, February 1st from 7:30 to 10:30pm. Some of the biggest names in the gospel and R&B music industry will join the players for this phenomenal event, produced by NFL PLAYERS and Results Inc., which brings star-studded, family-oriented entertainment to thousands of fans attending the Super Bowl each year.
