ENJOY THE ROYAL TREATMENT AT WINSTAR WORLD CASINO

By Lynn Marie

Who says you need to travel to Las Vegas for the royal treatment?

If you are looking for a weekend getaway or a mid-week break perhaps you should try Winstar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma.  It’s just an hour and twenty-minutes from Dallas, Texas.

The WinStar is an extraordinary, half a mile long from end to end,  380,000 square foot facility.  It offers heart-thumping adrenaline pumping action in the form of 5700 electronic games, more than 70 table games, and world-class Las Vegas entertainment.
The gaming resort is owned and operated by the Chickasaw Nation and is fifth largest in the world.  The most impressive part of the casino is it features different sections of the casino modeled after different locations around the world.

The interior decoration of Beijing, London, Madrid, Paris, Rome, Vienna, Cairo and New York are reminiscent of fashionable Las Vegas casinos.   You can find breath taking images from around the globe all across the casino floor and feel like you have traveled around the world.

The 12-story 395-room luxury getaway hotel opened in August of 2009.  This is directly connected to the WinStar World Casino and is designed to reflect a Tuscan Village which is in keeping with the new exterior and interior of the casino   The staff of the hotel and the casino really make you feel like a “rock star.”  It is by far one of the friendliest staffs I’ve encountered at any casino-hotel.

Their posh 3,000 seat Global Events Center creates a small, intimate atmosphere and is something to experience.   To date, most of the acts have been musical artists, but the Center has hosted comedians and other gaming events.

The love gods, better known as Air Supply, just recently graced the stage at the Center and how can you forget hits like “All out of Love,” and “Making Love out of Nothing at All.”  You travel back to each era as each hit is sung and I recount each decade by each album Air Supply recorded.  Upcoming artists to perform at the Global Events Center are Heart, Kid Rock, Tim McGraw and Lady Antebellum.

The WinStar has an award winning American Steakhouse, The Grill.  This is a phenomenal fine dining experience with all the bells and whistles.  Some of my favorites include the Wedge Bibb Maytag which includes cherry tomatoes and bacon vinaigrette, the Filet with the Peppercorn Demi Glaze, Alaskan King Crab Legs, Boiled Lobster Tail and asparagus with balsamic reduction and parmesan cheese.

Winstar is also home to a 225-acre golfer’s paradise.  The WinStar Gold Course offers unending, awe-inspiring views of breathtaking natural beauty.  Designed by former PGA Tour Pro, D.A. Weibring, the 18-hole course, multiple-purpose clubhouse and extensive practice area accommodate not only everyday country club-style play, but also championship golf tournaments throughout the year.
Whatever your interest, Winstar World Casino has something for you.  A quick getaway is “good for the soul.”  So what are you waiting for?  To unwind, relax and detoxify visit www.winstarworldcasino.com and let the fun begin 24 hours a day.
