Tucson Mall undergoes expansion

New stores open in 2010 and 2011

Tucson Mall opened a new wing of stores in the former Macy's location on the southside of the Mall facing Wetmore Road.

The Tucson Mall is Tucson, Arizona's largest shopping center with 1.3 million square feet of shopping space, five major department stores and more than 200 specialty stores and vendors on two levels.

In October 2007, the former Broadway store (Macy's, until it moved) was demolished for extensive remodeling and the addition of a new shopping area on the south side of the mall. The changes were completed in 2010 with the addition of the Cheesecake Factory on the southside.

Other renvoations include the addition of a grand entrance hall in the location of the former Macy's store and an extension of new retail stores and restaurants on both the east and west side of the new entrance of the mall.

Multiple water features have been added and a complete update of the facade from current Macy's store to Mall Security Offices has been done. A new parking structure is in front the current Macy's.

Recently, the northside mall opened a dozen new stores and restaurants including Bare Escentuals, California Pizza Kitchen, Charming Charlie, The Cheesecake Factory, Delia's, H&M, Metropark, REI, Papaya, Shane's Rib Shack, Soma Intimiates and Vitamin World. More retail outlets and restaurants are expected in 2011.

Brookstone at Tucson Mall has closed. Macy's has moved to the east end of the Mall in order to make way for the expansion of the mall.
