When you dream, do you usually see yourself acting out the dream or are you an active participant as you watch the dream unfold around you? Build up your imagination with an image of yourself to strengthen the result. While your mind is in a relaxed state, visualize a duplicate body of yourself standing in front of you– as if you were staring into tall mirror. Stare at your body double intently and observe your face, your eyes, your hair and clothing. Hold on to that image and view it in 3D. Have the image slowly turn around so you can see it completely. If you have a problem viewing an image of yourself, think about a memorable event you attended and a photograph someone took of you. Remember how you felt during that event and the moment your picture was taken. Freeze that thought! This is a technique used to induce an out-of-body experience (OOBE). In an OOBE, the dreamer finds him/herself outside of the physical body while perceiving everything from a different position– looking directly at oneself! While it is occurring, lucid dreaming is not indistinguishable to an out-of-body experience. In both instances, the “dreamer” is aware of themselves outside of their physical body lying in a bed. Once successful, this Astral Body can be used to travel in the “dream” environment.
