Be sure to enjoy the fall colors in the White
Mountains. Fall colors can "usually" be seen in mid-October. The small
communities of Greer and Alpine aford great viewing. Picnic Hill east of
Alpine is favored by the locals.
Woodland Lake Park, located in the heart of Pinetop-Lakeside,
is the central point of the White Mountains Trailsystem. The park
has tennis courts, softball fields, multi-use trails, volleyball
courts, ramadas, grills, playgrounds and more.
Woodland Lake, itself, is open to fishing and boating.
The lake is home to trout, crappie, bass and bluegill. The White
Mountains contain more than 65 lakes and streams in the surrounding
area, many of them have a large variety of species, including
rare Native Apache trout, Arctic Grayling, pike, bass and more.
Fishing opportunities include dock, shoreline and boat fishing,
as well as fly fishing, pay-by-the-pound lakes and ice fishing
in the winter.
