Hop. Blending state-of-the-art animation with live action, Hop tells the comic tale of Fred, an out-of-work slacker who accidentally injures the Easter Bunny and must take him in as he recovers. Universal Pictures.

Jane Eyer. In a bold new feature version of JANE EYRE, director Cary Fukunaga (Sin Nombre) and screenwriter Moira Buffini (Tamara Drewe) infuse a contemporary immediacy into Charlotte Brontë’s timeless, classic story. Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) and Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) star in the iconic lead roles of the romantic drama, the heroine of which continues to inspire new generations of devoted readers and viewers. In the 19th Century-set story, Jane Eyre (played by Ms. Wasikowska) suddenly flees Thornfield Hall, the vast and isolated estate where she works as a governess for Adele, a child under the custody of Thornfield’s brooding master, Edward Rochester (Mr. Fassbender). The imposing residence – and Rochester’s own imposing nature – have sorely tested her resilience. With nowhere else to go, she is extended a helping hand by clergyman St. John Rivers (Jamie Bell of Focus’ The Eagle) and his family. As she recuperates in the Rivers’ Moor House and looks back upon the tumultuous events that led to her escape, Jane wonders if the past is ever truly past… Aged 10, the orphaned Jane (played by Amelia Clarkson) is mistreated and then cast out of her childhood home Gateshead by her cruel aunt, Mrs. Reed (Golden Globe Award winner Sally Hawkins). Consigned to the charity school Lowood, Jane encounters further harsh treatment but receives an education and meets Helen Burns (Freya Parks), a poor child who impresses Jane as a soulful and contented person. The two become firm friends. When Helen falls fatally ill, the loss devastates Jane, yet strengthens her resolve to stand up for herself and make the just choices in life. As a teenager, Jane arrives at Thornfield. She is treated with kindness and respect by housekeeper Mrs. Fairfax (Academy Award winner Judi Dench). Jane’s interest is piqued by Rochester, who engages her in games of wit and storytelling, and divulges to her some of his innermost thoughts. But his dark moods are troubling to Jane, as are strange goings-on in the house – especially the off-limits attic. She dares to intuit a deep connection with Rochester, and she is not wrong; but once she uncovers the terrible secret that he had hoped to hide from her forever, she flees, finding a home with the Rivers family. But once St. John Rivers makes Jane a surprising proposal, she realizes that she must return to Thornfield – to secure her own future and finally, to conquer what haunts both her and Rochester. Rating: PG-13. Runtime: 120 Minutes.

In A Better World is a story about bullying and is as brave as its heroes in its telling. It cocks a thumb at the politically correct corner, slips off the restraints of self-control and, in unfettered terms, demands an eye for an eye. When Christian's (William Johnk Nielsen) mother dies, his father (Ulrich Thomsen) takes him to live with his grandmother in Denmark. On his first day at school he witnesses Elias (Markus Rygaard) being bullied and decides to ally himself with the hapless victim.

Insidious. The terrifying story of a family who shortly after moving discover that dark spirits have possessed their home and that their son has inexplicably fallen into a coma. Trying to escape the haunting and save their son, they move again only to realize that it was not their house that was haunted. Fim District.

Source Code is described by the filmmakers as a 'smart action thriller', which is puzzling, as it's steeped in sci-fi elements and the only action/thriller aspect is when a train catches on fire and derails. Granted the train is going very fast, but that doesn't make it thrilling and as regards smart, read on.

Trust  -  A Dated Tale. This is a cautionary tale about the dangers of teenage girls using chat rooms but, as this is already universally known, the warning is redundant.

What is needed are guiding insights and attempts to find answers, but this film offers neither and we learn nothing about coping, communicating or the predators who prowl behind their electronic curtain.

Arthur (Romantic Comedy). Arthur (Russell Brand) is heir to a fabulous fortune but his wayward behavior is making the shareholders of the family empire nervous.  Arthur’s mother (Geraldine James) decides something must be done and tells her son that he is to marry someone (Jennifer Garner) who she believes will bring stability to both the business and Arthur. Warner Bros.

BORN TO BE WILD 3D (Documentary Adventure) is a mesmerizing documentary about orphan elephants and orangutans who are given sanctuary and nurtured until they are ready to be returned to their natural habitat in the wild.  Each minute is as captivating as the next but, with a running time of 40 minutes, there are just not enough of them. Warner Bros. IMAX only.

Your Highness. Two princes on a daring mission to save their land must rescue the heir apparent’s fiancée before their kingdom is destroyed. Universal Pictures.

Hanna. Hanna is a teenage girl. Uniquely, she has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a soldier; these come from being raised by her father, an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Finland. Living a life unlike any other teenager, her upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin.

Soul Surfer. The inspiring true story of teen surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm in a shark attack and courageously overcame all odds to become a champion again, through the love of her family, her sheer determination and unwavering faith. Film District.

In Rio, the exotic feathered creatures in this 3D extravaganza are visually stunning, the scenery is magnificently depicted and the cast is littered with stars but somehow it becomes duller and duller by the minute, ending up as yet another big budget cavalcade with plenty of sizzle, not much sausage and, despite its genre, not one funny line.

African Cats: Kingdom of Courage. The story features Mara, an endearing lion cub who strives to grow up with her mother’s strength, spirit and wisdom; Sita, a fearless cheetah and single mother of five mischievous newborns; and Fang, a proud leader of the pride who must defend his family from a once banished lion.  Disneynature brings “The Lion King” to life on the big screen in this True Life Adventure. Disneynature.

WATER FOR ELEPHANTS - If You Like the Weak Stuff. There's a little action at the beginning of this film, total chaos at the end, and the rest is just a few animal tricks, a load of idle gossip and a sociopath circus owner attacking his bi-lingual elephant when ticket sales are down. Jacob (Robert Pattinson) is still a student when his parents die in a car accident and he is left destitute and homeless.  He abandons his studies and makes his way to the nearest city to find work.

Incendies - A New Conundru, from the Middle East. This is a story steeped in realism about a beautiful Arab girl who dares to cross the ethnic line. She becomes a victim of religious politics and is never allowed to embrace Islam or her illegitimate son, who is judged by the extremists to be as guilty as his vanquished young mother. It's a compelling tale.

Pom Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold The dynamic filmmaker of Supersize Me, Morgan Spurlock, set his sights on the world of product placement for his next documentary. This seems like a rather low-profile target for such a high-profile ‘truthsayer’ and, equally debatable, is whether this is a subject audiences really need an in-depth on.  With the ozone layer at no. 9 on the 2011 Social Worries List, would product placement even make the top 100?  Or the top 1000?  Probably not.

Prom. Several intersecting stories unfold at one high school as the big dance approaches; “Prom” portrays the precarious passage from high school to independence as some relationships unravel and others ignite. Disney.

Fast Five. A reunion of returning all-stars from every chapter of the explosive franchise built on speed in Fast Five.  In this installment, former cop Brian O’Conner partners with ex-con Dom Toretto on the opposite side of the law. The high octane action in this film escalates crazily from moment to moment and as long as you can suspend your disbelief when the characters develop super-powers (which happens a lot) and you don't mind a little sentimental dross, then this film is for you. Former cop Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) helps Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) escape from custody and the two are holed up with Mia (Jordana Brewster) in Rio de Janeiro. Universal. Rated R.
