Tower Heist stars Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy in an all-star cast, a comedy caper about working stiffs who seek revenge on the Wall Street swindler who stiffed them.  After the workers at a luxury Central Park condominium discover the penthouse billionaire has stolen their retirement, they plot the ultimate revenge: a heist to reclaim what he took from them. Watch movie trailer of Tower Heist.

December 16: Sherlock Holmes II, an action adventure from Warner Bros.

THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO is a compelling murder mystery set in the heart of one of the most dysfunctional families in cinematic history, all of whom seem quite normal compared to the girl with the dragon tattoo. She is totally bizarre but at the same time endearing and somehow manages to give dysfunction a very good name. Opens in Canada: 20 December 2011; USA: 20 December 2011; Denmark: 21 December 2011; Finland: 21 December 2011; Norway: 21 December 2011; Sweden: 21 December 2011; Ireland: 26 December 2011; UK: 26 December 2011; Israel: 29 December 2011; Slovenia: 29 December 2011. THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (First of a Trilogy)

December 30 (earlier in AU and NZ): The Iron Lady - Heading for the Oscars. The Iron Lady is supposed to be a biopic of Margaret Thatcher but, unfortunately, relevance and truth are sacrificed in the name of the upcoming Oscars and what we actually get is Meryl Streep playing a role Helen Mirren was born for. Streep delivers what she got paid to deliver but her voice grates after a while and whether the Brits will buy an American as the iconic Mrs. Thatcher remains to be seen. Opens in Australia: 26 December 2011, New Zealand: 26 December 2011, USA: 30 December 2011 (New York City, New York) and December 30, 2011 in Los Angeles, California. Watch movie trailer and read review of The Iron Lady.

December 25: War Horse. The First World War is experienced through the journey of this horse—an odyssey of joy and sorrow, passionate friendship and high adventure. “War Horse” is one of the great stories of friendship and war—a successful book, it was turned into a hugely successful international theatrical hit that is arriving on Broadway next year. It now comes to screen in an epic adaptation by one of the great directors in film history. Opens in Canada: and USA: 25 December 2011; Australia: 26 December 2011; Singapore: 29 December 2011; Thailand: 29 December 2011. Watch video interview with Stephen Spielberg in a question and answer about WAR HORSE- Conquering Europe Again.

Undated: Journey 2: The Mysterious Island from Warner Bros. In 2D, 3D in select theaters and IMAX.

"Hobbit." Academy Award (R)-Winner Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema Join With MGM to Produce 'The Hobbit,' Eagerly-Anticipated Fantasy Adventure Epic. The two "Hobbit" films -- "The Hobbit" and its sequel -- are scheduled to be shot simultaneously, with pre-production beginning as soon as possible. Principal photography is tentatively set for a 2009 start, with the intention of "The Hobbit" release slated for 2010 and its sequel the following year, in 2011. More about the "Hobbit."

Abduction. There are so many disastrous scenes in this movie that it could have been made by a group of students in their first year at film school. The clichés are endless, tedious melodrama abounds and it feels more like a humorless spoof than the action thriller it's supposed to be. Opens in Portugal - 3 November 2011. Watch movie trailer and read more about Abduction.

50/50 is a daring combination of tragedy and comedy which works for a while but then runs out of steam, becomes sentimental and, without the depth of a tear jerker, ends up in no man's land. But when it's good, it's good, and anything that is this dark and actually funny deserves a place in the annals of movie history. Opens in France: 9 November 2011. Portugal: 10 November 2011. Hungary: 1 December 2011. Sweden: 2 December 2011. UK: 6 January 2012. Netherlands: 31 January 2012. Read review and watch movie Trailer of 50/50.

Contagion is tagged as a sci-fi/action/thriller, but it plays like a mega-long montage, with film stars rushing across a plethora of plotlines, reciting endless melodrama until they finally collapse into an ungainly finale that is coated with cheese. Beth Emhoff (Gwyneth Paltrow) returns from a trip to Hong Kong and within days dies of a mystery virus.  Similar deaths are reported across the world and as the threat of this deadly disease spreads governments set up an international team of doctors who try to deal with the impending catastrophe. Opens in Belgium: 9 November 2011; France: 9 November 2011; Australia: 3 December 2011; Germany: 24 December 2011.

Drive, Ryan Gosling stars as a Los Angeles wheelman for hire, stunt driving for movie productions by day and steering getaway vehicles for armed heists by night. Though a loner by nature, Driver can’t help falling in love with his beautiful neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan), a vulnerable young mother dragged into a dangerous underworld by the return of her ex-convict husband Standard (Oscar Isaac). Opens in Germany: 29 December 2011. Watch movie trailer and read review of Drive.

Happy Feet 2 The visuals are spectacular (if you like 2? D), and most of the music will have you dancing in your seat, but the story is dismal and the characters drag us from one non-event to another, uttering humorless dialogue in mismatched accents that are a perfect metaphor for the mélange on-screen. Cast: Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Alecia Moore, Hank Azaria. Opens in Germany on 1 December 2011; Armenia, Finland, Ireland, Norway, Spain and UK on 2 December 2011; France on 7 December 2011; Portugal on 8 December 2011; Sweden on 9 December 2011; Hong Kong on 22 December 2011; Hungary on 22 December 2011. Watch trailer and read review of Happy Feet 2.

Hugo is a conundrum of unfinished story strands, created from undeveloped ideas, acted out by pseudo Dickensian characters whose lives exist around an eternally bustling Parisian train station which, unfortunately, doesn't feel French at all. Opens in Turkey: 2 December 2011; UK: 2 December 2011; France: 14 December 2011; Belgium: 21 December 2011; India: 23 December 2011; Mexico: 30 December 2011, more international openings in December and 2012 . Watch movie trailer and read review of Hugo.

Margin Call is set in the high stakes world of the financial industry. A gripping tale about the obscene wealth of the morally bankrupt and, although not a tell-all, it tells enough to fascinate and makes no excuses for the contemptible behavior of the bad guys who took us down a road called Armageddon. Opens in Portugal: 29 December 2011. Watch video and read review of Margin Call.

Midnight in Paris. This is yet another Woody Allen film with a lead character who is a writer struggling to write.  It's a lot better than anything he's produced for years, but there's none of the old genius in sight and no sign of the enigmatic characters he now seems unable to create. The Brits were the first to open their cheque books to Woody Allen, but now it appears his films can't even get released there. Open in Italy - 2 December 2011.

My Week With Marilyn. It's 1956, COLIN (Eddie Redmayne) is an aspiring filmmaker and gets a job as the 3rd Assistant Director on The Prince and the Showgirl, starring Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams) and Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh), who is also the director. It is Marilyn's first visit to the UK and she brings with her her new husband, Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott), and acting coach, Paula Strasburg (Zoe Wanaker). Opens in Singapore: 1 December 2011 and in Finland: 30 December 2011. Watch movie trailer for My Week With Marilyn.

ANOTHER EARTH - En Route in a Tardis This film has an intriguing sci-fi premise about a duplicate earth but, unfortunately, it gets relegated to the realm of sub-plot and the focus is placed on a tedious romance that is a poor substitute for the extra-terrestrial adventure we could have enjoyed. Opens in Germany: 1 December 2011.

THE ARTIST is a black and white silent movie which, for some reason, is expected to attract 2011 audiences. With a budget of $12 million, it all seems rather self-indulgent, exceedingly pretentious and a serious case of the Emperor's New Clothes. Opens in Italy: 9 December 2011; Spain: 16 December 2011; Greece: 22 December 2011; Lebanon: 22 December 2011; Lithuania: 23 December 2011; UK: 30 December 2011. Watch movie trailer of THE ARTIST
