Eva
Marie Saint, Oscar winning actress for her very first movie role,
opposite Marlon Brando in On The Waterfront, was interviewed March 30,
2010 by the prime time host of Turner Classic Movies, Robert
Osborne, at Chicago's preserved Music Box Theatre, built in 1929.
The evening began with entertainment by organist Dennis Scott, and
following the interesting, bright, and humorous stories related by Miss
Saint and her answers to questions from some members of the completely
sold out house, there was a screening of the classic Alfred Hitchcock
film, North by Northwest, which starred the beautiful star opposite
handsome Cary Grant. Eva Marie Saint and Robert Osborne story and photo

Raquel Welch
Photos and text by Steve Starr
It is hard to conceive that this
beautiful actress whose photo cutout, which I remember when I was 19
years old, stood two stories high atop the Roosevelt Theatre on State
Street in Chicago, is now, self admittedly, seventy years old.
In that photo, she wore a skimpy,
furry animal skin bikini, and with lush auburn hair swirling to frame
her perfect facial features that were further enhanced with the
remarkable skill of a 1966 Hollywood makeup artist, she was promoted as
the way glamorous natural cavewomen really looked 1,000,000 years B.C.
Welch quickly became an International sex goddess, reigning upon her
cinematic throne for decades.
Still unbelievably gorgeous, Raquel
Welch honored Chicago with her iconic presence in the Wolf Ballroom of
the Holiday Inn to accept the silver Focus Award presented to her by
Bill Zwecker.
The Focus is given to women who have
made significant contributions to film and also have strong ties to
Chicago, where Welch was born Jo Raquel Tejada, September 5, 1940.
The Mistress of Ceremonies was
beautiful Micah Materre - WGN News Anchor and Focus Awards were also
presented to Emmy Award winning producer Jamie Ceasar and Television and
Radio Hostess Merri Dee.
Among the many illustrious guests were
Victor Skrebneski who had photographed Raquel for her 40th birthday and
Diana Palomar - Vice President Community Affairs ABC 7.

The 29th annual Chicago Music Awards at the Alhambra Palace, Chicago, Illinois
By Matt Nalett
The Chicago Music Awards took place on
January 23, 2010 with some amazing talent. Everyone from Recording
Artist Jeremih to House Music Diva Screamin Rachael were there.
The Venue was pretty massive - two
levels. I felt, on a personal level, it was too big and should have been
back at the Park West Arena like it was in 2008
I get pretty disappointed at the Local
Chicago Recording Artists who did not show up to the event, since they
were nominated and they are from Chicago - Twista & Kanye West -
to name a couple of them. Do not get me wrong, I am glad they are able
to be successful with their music career and be able to go anyplace in
the world they want. But you would think they would take a few minutes
out of there busy schedule to come receive their nominations from the
local Chicago music scene. Sure, the CMA Awards is not like your Golden
Globe Awards or Major Awards but these are Local Chicago Artists. They
should respect where they came from and attend even if it is just a
minor event.
Chicago Music Promotions - http://www.chicagomusicpromotions.com
helps the CMA Awards every year with online promotions and marketing
since we are a major part of the chicago music scene. The company
promotes Unsigned & Independent Musicians and Bands to gain more
exposure and hopefully get signed by a major record label, or well just
stay independent but have a professional resouce to help them with being
on a professional music site.
Chicago Music Promotions Facebook - We post events and post photos from photographers on our facebook page you are welcome to check out the page at http://www.facebook.com/chicagomusicpromotions
Chicago Music Promotions Youtube -
We also have a Youtube Page - http://www.youtube.com/chicagomusic where we post videos from events or concerts we attend and when we have our video camera's rolling our last event.
Thanks to Steve Starr Photography for
releasing the images to us so we can post them on our networks and on
the world wide web for everyone to enjoy.
