2009 CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL ATTENDANCE UP 7.2 PERCENT

The average daily attendance in 2009 was 56,000. By comparison, in 2008 the average daily attendance was 52,000. The uptick was felt in single concert tickets and attendance in the Festival's free zones and concert venues including Riverfront Park, which was free to the community for the first time. LAS VEGAS, April 6, 2009 /PRNewswire/ -- Winners have been announced for the 44th ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, a star-studded ceremony broadcast LIVE April 5, 2009 on the CBS Television Network from MGM GRAND in Las Vegas. More than half a million fans voted in the Entertainer of the Year category, and named Carrie Underwood for the evening's biggest honor.

CMA ANNOUNCES 2008 BROADCAST AWARDS FINALISTS

George Strait and Sugarland Receive Five Nominations Each, Jennifer Nettles Receives a Total of Six Nominations Including Songwriter Nod for "Stay;" Alan Jackson and Brad Paisley Score Four Nominations Each

For the third year, the announcement of the final nominees in five of the 12 CMA Awards categories was made on ABC News' "Good Morning America." Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift delivered the news from the "Good Morning America" studios in the heart of New York City's Times Square. The remaining categories were announced by Lady Antebellum and James Otto on a special edition of CMT's "CMT Insider" live from the CMA Awards Nominees Press Conference at the Sommet Center in Nashville.

At the conclusion of the announcements, Kenny Chesney (photo left) led the list of nominees with seven nominations. Chesney, the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year, was nominated in that category again, as well as Male Vocalist; Album for Just Who I Am:Poets & Pirates; Single for "Don't Blink;" two Musical Event nominations, one with Reba McEntire for "Every Other Weekend" and one with George Strait for "Shiftwork"; and Music Video of the Year for "Don't Blink," which was directed by Shaun Silva. Chesney could receive two additional trophies for producing his Album and Single with Buddy Cannon

Randy Owen & Sugarland to Perform at the Fremont Street Experience During the Week Vegas Goes Country (TM) for the 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards

The Academy of Country Music announced the return of Reba McEntire as host of the 43rd ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, an event which honors country music's top talent as well as the industry's hottest emerging talent. "I am celebrating my tenth anniversary of hosting the Academy of Country Music Awards," said Reba McEntire. "I'm excited to honor country music's greatest talent at this spectacular awards show."
This year's telecast, which is produced by Dick Clark Productions, Inc., will mark the unprecedented tenth time that McEntire has hosted the ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS. She has won 11 Academy of Country Music Awards and has 41 nominations total. In 2001 she was awarded the first annual Academy of Country Music / The Home Depot Humanitarian Award for her outstanding philanthropic work. In 2003, the Academy of Country Music awarded her the title of "Leading Lady" in recognition of her status as the all-time leading winner in the Top Female Vocalist category with seven wins.
