The list of impressive box office records and accomplishments for the Studio include: Buena Vista Pictures Distribution became the first distributor in industry history to ever have the #1 and #2 films over the Thanksgiving weekend. With "The Incredibles" and "National Treasure," Buena Vista had the #1 film for all four weekends in November. Buena Vista crossed the $1 billion mark at the domestic box office on Friday (11/24). This is the ninth time in the past 11 years that the company has reached this milestone. Buena Vista had a cumulative 5-day gross of $78.4 million over the Thanksgiving holiday period. "National Treasure," in its second week, was the #1 film for the holiday weekend with a three-day (11/26-28) gross of $32.2 million and a five-day tally of $45.6 million. "The Incredibles" crossed the $200 million mark on Friday, November 26, 2004 and has a cumulative total to date of $215 million. At the international box office, Buena Vista International posted some equally impressive accomplishments: Over the weekend, "The Incredibles" and "National Treasure" dominated the international marketplace registering $52 million in combined box office receipts. Together "The Incredibles" and "National Treasure" ranked #1 in 14 and six territories, respectively, positioning Disney films as the top attractions in a total of 20 territories, representing 60% of the international marketplace. "The Incredibles" grossed $44.3 million over the three-day period, epresenting the biggest weekend opening weekend in industry history. In the U.K., the film earned $18.1 million from 494 sites registering the biggest opening weekend in the Company's history. In Spain, "The Incredibles" matched the initial weekend take of "Finding Nemo" earning $5.6 million. Italian results were record-setting as "The Incredibles" posted a new all-time industry opening weekend high for an animated title, earning $5.4 million. "National Treasure" began its international roll-out over the weekend earning $7.7 million in seven countries. In achieving this performance, "National Treasure" was #1 throughout German-speaking Europe earning $5.2 million for the period. Commenting on the Studio's performance, Cook said, "We're thrilled with Buena Vista's latest box office successes both here and abroad. The fact that two terrific Disney films are reaching such a large and diverse audience speaks to the unparalleled appeal of the Disney name. It is especially rewarding to see these films playing to family audiences during the day, and a whole different age range of adult moviegoers during the prime evening showtimes. Our goal at the Studio is to keep making great entertainment that plays to audiences of all ages, and 'National Treasure' and 'The Incredibles' join such other recent successes as 'Pirates of the Caribbean,' 'Freaky Friday,' 'The Princess Diaries 1 and 2,' 'Miracle,' and 'The Rookie.' We're particularly excited about the 2005 Buena Vista release schedule which includes our most ambitious and exciting line-up of Disney live-action and animated films, with such titles as 'The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe,' 'Herbie: Fully Loaded,' 'The Pacifier,' 'Ice Princess,' 'Glory Road,' 'Chicken Little,' 'Cars,' and 'Sky High.'"
