Jan. 15: The Book of Eli an action adventure. A lone man fights his way across America to protect a book. Warner Bros. Pictures.

Jan. 15: Broken Embraces is the story of a man who writes, lives and loves in darkness. Opens in Albuquerque, NM; Reno and Las Vegas, NV; and Tucson, AZ. Sony Pictures Classics. Rated R. 128 min.

Jan. 15: The Spy Next Door. Former CIA spy Bob Ho takes on his toughest assignment to date: looking after his girlfriend's three kids, who haven't exactly warmed to their mom's beau. Lionsgate. Rated PG. 92 min.

Jan. 19: Edge of Darkness a suspense thriller stars Mel Gibson from Warner Bros. Pictures. As homicide detective Thomas Craven investigates the death of his activist daughter, he uncovers not only her secret life, but a corporate cover-up and government collusion that attracts an agent tasked with cleaning up the evidence.

Jan. 22: Extraordinary Measures. A man joins forces with an unconventional scientist to develop a life-saving drug. Harrison Ford, Brendan Fraser and Keri Russell. In the tradition of great inspirational dramas like the Academy Award nominated film Erin Brockovich and The Pursuit of Happyness, Extraordinary Measures is inspired by the true story of John Crowley, a man who defied conventional wisdom and great odds, and risked his family's future to pursue a cure for his children's life threatening disease. CBS Films. Rated PG. 106 minutes.

Jan. 22: The Tooth Fairy. After dashing a child's hopes, a hockey player is sentenced to serve one week as a real tooth fairy. Stars Dwayne Johnson. Fox Pctures.

Jan. 22: Creation claims to be a psychological thriller and heart-wrenching love story, but in fact serves only as a grim reminder that historical dramas should be left firmly in the century they are created.

Jan. 29: Edge of Darkness is an emotionally charged suspense thriller set at the intersection of politics and big business. Thomas Craven (Mel Gibson) is a veteran homicide detective for the Boston Police Department and a single father. When his only child, 24-year-old Emma (Bojana Novakovic), is murdered on the steps of his home, everyone assumes that he was the target. Warner Bros. Pictures.
