More 3D movies in theaters in 2010
Several major upcoming 3D movies are planned for release almost every month over the next few years. Upcoming new 3D films in 2010 are already in theaters.
Since 3D movies were among the top grossing films in 2009, that may be the key to revive the slumping movie industry. The next generation of movie technology has made a difference at the box office, despite the average $3 increase in ticket price for 3D films.

3D movies in 2010 may over-crowd theaters
The glut of 3D movies in 2010 poses a logistics problem with movie theaters. Less than 10% of the U.S. 40,000 movie screens are equipped for 3D movies, according to the National Association of Theater Owners.
Movie theater owners are adding about 250 new screens a month and plan to add more as the holiday season approaches.
In addition to the current line up of 3D movies in 2010, many of the current and older 2D films are being converted to 3D.
All of the new 3D movies in the theaters in the past few years will be available on Blu-ray in a 3D enhanced version for home viewing on a 3D capable television set or computer monitor.
Watch Eye-Popping 3D on your TV with new 3D Blu-rays and TVs
New 3-D capable Blu-ray players and 3D HDTV's are now available from major electronics manufacturers like Sony, Samsung, Mitsubishi and Toshiba. This holiday, the market will be flooded even more with this new wave of 3D technology.
While the movie theaters provide free 3D glasses for use while watching the films, these same glasses will not work with the new 3D TV's or DVD players.
To watch the 3D effects, either the television set, or the player must have the new 3-D technology installed. It may eventually be possible for them to "up-convert" regular DVD and HD signals to -D, just as some Blu-ray players will upconvert regular DVD to 1080p quality.
Toshiba America Consumer Products will expand its range of Blu-ray players with the introduction of three new players. With the recent announcement of the finalized Blu-ray 3D format specification, Toshiba will also add the new BDX3000 Blu-ray player with 3D playback to compliment the Toshiba 3D television products. The studio will attach the cartoon shorts to three of its upcoming family features--all three features to be released this year in 3D. The first short will be seen with "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore," on July 30th; the second with "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole," on September 24th; and the third with "Yogi Bear," on December 17th. The announcement was made today by Dan Fellman, Warner Bros. Pictures President of Domestic Distribution.
In the new cartoon shorts, each three minutes in length, Wile E. Coyote is as determined as ever to catch the elusive Road Runner, who continues to leave his hapless nemesis in the dust with a taunting "beep-beep." However, bringing the classic characters into the 21st century, the resourceful Wile E. will now be employing an arsenal of state-of-the-art ACME gadgets to snag his quarry--with all of the action in stereographic 3D.

3D glasses for movie theaters
3D movie technology is over 100 years old. Yet, it still relies on glasses with special lenses to simulate a three dimensional viewing experience. Most movie theaters will provide the 3-D glasses for free to use during the film. These goggles may not be compatible with home versions of 3-D entertainment options.
3-D Polarized glasses are for use in IMAX movie theatres only at this time. They can't be used for viewing IMAX films at home. For home viewing, other types of 3D glasses are needed to connect to a PC or HDTV. You can purchase 3-D movie theater glasses to avoid using worn, used or scratched lenses.
Linear Polarized 3-D Glasses are the general purpose glasses used for polarized projection of slide shows, multi-media displays, concerts, movies, simulator rides, and viewing vectographs. Linear polarized glasses have the left and right axis at 45 degrees and 135 degrees (perpendicular to each other), and a standard transmission of 37%.
